As the poll suggests, which one will sell better on the first day?
Im going with Metal Gear Solid 4. since it is the last installment of the series and will be the best in the series also.

mgs needs to sella million on the first day, they hava simultaneous world wide release, MGS is hyped like Halo in the far east.
GT5 > MGS4 > KZ2
Grand Turismo has a large following in Europe, huge actually. Larger than both North America and Japan combined.
Metal Gear Solid sells alot in it's life time, but it's not a fast seller. History has shown us this.
Killzone 2, PFFFFFFFFFFFF HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Actually, history shows us the exact opposite.

Why are you hahaing for KZ2, it is the most controversial game for the last 2 years, and most people going to buy this game to see it, and I don't think Sony wouldn't market it to death, in other words, Sony will make sure it sells, they payed $40M at least for this game.
In North America it sold around 220,000 sales it's first week and 550,000 it's first month.
In Japan it sold 490,000 it's first week and 730,000 by the end of it's first month. The sales dropped off after that first month.
Compare that to the 670,000 Grand Turismo 4 sold it's first week in Japan and 940,000 it's first month.
Grand Turismo 4 sold around 5,000,000 copies in Europe, around 1.1 million in Japan and 2.6 in North America.
Metal Gear Solid 3 sold around 1,600,000 in Europe, 860,000 in Japan and 1,400,000 in North America.
Grand Turismo 5 will sell faster than Metal Gear Solid 4, it has a huge fanbase and Metal Gear Solid isn't as big as everyone makes it out to be, those slow sales in North America show that it's consistent, but not earth shattering when it comes to sales.

GT 5, because Prologue is out now to build hype a year in advance, plus it'll have more potential customers since it'll have all of the systems MGS 4 pushes added to it, plus (potentially) Killzone 2's as well. Plus, since KZ 1 wasn't exactly a smash success, while the GT series has been, saying that it'll out-sell KZ 2 is a fairly simple call to make. Barring, of course, anything unforseenSpaceMatt
Just like you said, maybe, maybe not, next Xmass, nobody knows what other games coming , maybe FFXIII and GOD 3 pop up, who knows.

yeah i'm getting tired of cows thinking that MGS4 is some massive event in gaming that will completely overshadow everything else when its released (halo 3, GTA 4, SSBB andGT5 fit the category, not MGS4)
its a popular franchise, but come on. mario party 8 outsold the last metal gear solid game

Because Killzone 2 has nothing going for it besides graphics and lighting. Everytime I ask what separates this game from the herd I get, "It has great lighting and physics and interesting covor mechanics". That doesn't make me want to buy this game.Guerrila Games is infact run of the mill, they've done nothing special in their entire uneventful existence and have contributed nothing to the first person shooter genre.
ShellShock: Nam '67: 60%
Killzone: 73%
Killzone Liberation: 79%
First Person Shooters are a dime a dozen this generation, and to see a game like Killzone 2 being hyped makes me sick to my stomach when I stop to think what things have come to. I'm sick and tired of shooters this generation, I need some change. Christ, the most hyped game at launch for the Playstation 3 was a FPS about aliens. What have things come to?

I think Sony is going MS's way this time unfortunately, but not completely, they just want to make theri own "Halo".
I know what you mean, there is not enough gameplay footage, but doesn't that make you wonder more about the game?
Like I said it is so controversial that's why it is making us crazy, lol, and what made it so controversial is it's graphics, I think we will see longer gameplay footage, but they are hiding it to make people go crazy about the game even more, this is part of the hype, if we saw alot of gameplay and levels at this year's E3, we would know everything about the game.
Btw, features of any game also make the hype, when Crytech first time showed Crysis, I was shocked to see all this amazing graphics and on top of that, free roaming and fully destructable environment, I didn't see alot of videos, but I knew this game going to be something big.
And last, don't worry, next year is the change, alot of other genres are coming.
GT > MGS > KZ sales wise. The first GT on next gen consoles has always sold well and I think many are waiting to buy a PS3 when this game is released.
MGS will sell great too and I know I'm the minority but I expect huge sales for the next KZ.

Next year is all about RPGs for me.Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, White Knight Story, Final Fantasy XIII(Fingers crossed...), Infinite Undiscovery(Q4 2008 hopefully, if it's not released in 2008 God only knows when Star Ocean 4 will come out.), Cry On(Waiting on info...) Fable 2(Going to be awesome) and Fall Out 3. Those are the games I know I'm going to be buying.
