PS3 - Lets estimate that the ps3 sells 40 million lifetime atroughly its current rate and heated competitive environment.Divide that by 30 and bingo ....... there you go.

MGS4 will sell about as much as its predecessors because:

1 - A good percentage of PS3 owners got it specifically for MGS4.

2- It has a following of fans like Final Fantasy.

3- Hungry PS3 owners looking for a good game.

4 - marketing. History has shown that any game can sell with the right marketing and clueless audience.

This is also why I keep telling Cows that MGS4 isn't going to make or break the PS3. It isn't going to have any significant change in sales nor will it stop the 360.

Glad you got a 360 for christmas but blog that. Now onto topic, if you make statements about game sales you need proof via links of how much it sold. Proof that Killzone 1 didn't sell at least a million, proof that fans aren't going to like female main characters (err tomb raider?) and proof that all 120 million consoles of ps2 sold are all individual units and not the same users buying new ones after disc read errors. :|

PS2 first year - 6 million sold

MGS2 Sales - over 2 million ( 7 million for total life of the game)

FFX Sales at Jan 2002 = 4 million

and then theres GTA4,GT3, and many other sellers that all did well while the ps2 only had 6MILLION UNITS not 120!

and do not doubt the power of the FF name, FF Crisis Core took helped the PSP take down the moster that is DS(which might i add is beating the crap out of every system nexx gen and handelds) and made the PSP sell more units then the DS for the month is is quite a feat!

My estimations have it about about 4million worldwide on the PS3, 600k on the 360, and 150k on the PC.

Maybe breaking 5m by the time it goes to shipped resources.

Then again, I could be completely wrong.

Either way, it's not breaking 1m on the first day, more like 400k in all regions combined.

Looking like 140k in Japan, 165k NA, 85k other.

That is strictly a guess, though. No telling how this game will sell, with this fickle, unproven userbase.

That's an interesting Gamertag...as a HUGE MGS fan, I am playing the game day one, regardless of it being ported or not. Yes, I know what Konami said (No), but even if it were ported, I'd hate to wait, y'know?

It's going to sell at least 3 million just from return fans. Also being one of the first mega hits gains games a lot of recognition and sales. I loved MGS3, but one thing that is different about it is that it was the only MGS game to not have the benefit of a new next gen platform's power.

MGS was on PSOne.

MGS2 was on PS2

MGS3 was ALSO on PS2.

MGS4 is on PS3.

Obviously, that crippled some ideas for the game, being on the same platform as MGS2...on the plus side, being able to work on the same system again, has unique advantage's too.

Just what I was thinking, also, how could your reasoning be any more wrong. Killzone for the psp was great. Most people witha ps3 WILL get MGS4, its what everyone is waiting for. Many people will but ps3's and MGS4 inpacks or separatley at the same time for the game. Do you really have no idea how much this will boost sales?

........So your telling me Motorstorm which has sold 2 million copies is a bigger asset to the PS3 then the name Metal Gear, oh my god you guys must be kidding me, you guys do relise there are three games coming for the PS3 that are to be reckoned with that are exclusive and could possibly push PS3 sales, these three are the biggest games for the system, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII.....but according to you two Motorstorm is one of the three.....:roll:......the answer is simply a no.

Well PSP games don't sell well, they never do, the system does but not the software, i'm guessing that's because of the heavy piracy, if Portable Ops sold a million that is about as good as you can do for a PSP game, Monster Hunter 2, the highest selling PSP game only sold 1.5 million copies.

The higheest selling PSP game is GTA LCS at 4.5 million sold and there are 3 other games above Monster Hunter Freedom 2. When an MGS game can't outsell a crummy MH game ..... you know the series has lost its powar !
