17/20 or basically an 8.5,
Is it possible this could be another franchise brimming with fatigue?
Judging from the review, the biggest issue is that there's a lot in terms of gameplay mechanics and things to do but a lot of it simply isn't that good, it's a classic case of quantity over quality. That and the plot is underwhelming
I'm hyping this a solid 8/10

Sounds like the classic EA problem. Large world filled with repetitive quests.

OOps. Sorry I was thinking Ubisoft but typed EA. Yeah I meant Ubisoft.

Sounds like an 8 but I hyped it a 9.0
I really wish Kojima had stopped with part 4.
Doesn't matter
Nothing will cancel my pre orders at this point. Not even if all the reviews give it a 1/10.
It's same site that gave Watch Dog a 9.5/10 score. Nothing to see here, folk. MGSV supposed to get 10/10, not 8.5/10.

It also sounds like a Bethesda problem...
This is the issue with open world games nowadays. They give a lot of side stuff to do but they seem to be there for the sake of players having something to do besides the main story mission. Adding some depth and sub-plot could come along way but I will wait and see when I play it.
If mgs5 flops, I'm gonna blame westernising (gameplay wise, not story) I don't know why some gamers are obsessed with open world games, it just tends to have lots and lots of mindless running around, it only works on gta games
I'm expecting MC to be around the 70's area, at most low low 8o's, mostly because of issues during development (which should be obvious to conclude) and the hype that's for this last MGS game.
They also seem to be going the route of put everything all together in this one big game, meaning that most likely over half the features you'll probably never use.
Peace Walker had the weakest story in the series and since Peace Walker is the mold for Phantom Pain, I have a bad feeling about this... I hope I'm wrong.

Apparently it's meant to be Peace Walker 2.0.
I'm hoping it has a better ending than the travesty of an ending MGS4 had. I don't understand how GS even gave that game a 10 and MGS3 an 8.7.

Well MGS4 was pretty much hyped to be the PS3's first major exclusive while MGS3 in 2004 ended up getting drowned in a sea of other high caliber games that year.
Never heard of these guys before. I'll wait for more reputable sites to review it.
Besides, I don't think it matters anyway. I bought Ground Zeroes and enjoyed the hell out of it and that was a glorified demo, nothing is gonna stop my MGSV hype train, NOTHING.
Well spanish magazine hobbyconsolas gave it 97, praising the story

As expected, they've sacrificed that MGS soul and charm to cater to westerners. Lots of open world filler nonsense.

This is good. Most critics are casual idiots. High praise from them is meaningless. Most of the best games score around the 7-8 range. Of course, most of the most boring games do too.
What has me sold on this one is a genius director who has consistently made some of the most clever, fun games of all time in basically every way. Kojima has earned my loyalty. People who think MGS2 was bad because the story was "too silly" are idiots who didn't get one of the most inventive sci-fi plots to have been written ever.
Oh, and his gameplay systems are some of the most detailed, well thought out and clever things ever. The amount of attention to detail what goes into one Metal Gear Solid game usually beats everything else the year they come out.

MGS 2 was prescient regarding a lot of things. I can see why people would be pissed about the story (it's core is essentially a retread of the first game's story with an AI twist if you think about it) but that would be missing the grander scope of things. This pic sums it all up perfectly :
LOL. French people.
Where they annoyed by all the dark skinned people in Afghanistan and Africa ?
"17/20, they need to integrate with our culture"
