I think the problem with Uncharted isn't the gameplay or graphics. I think it has to do with character appeal. Don't get me wrong, I like the Uncharted cast, but you don't really have any characters that are "cool". The characters are not mascot worthy. I think a lot of people judge games by the cover at the store. Majority of the people probably don't read up on games, and that is why sales are not as good as they should be. Hell if I was a casual and I walked into a store and saw it on the shelf, I would probably overlook it. Sad thing is even if it does have long legs, most people will probably end up buying it used and the devs will never see the money, nor will it be recorded as a sale.
Of course if we compare that to sales of a typical popular game on the 360, it is nothing. But then again, ps3 game sales are mostly such. Killzone 2 was good and only sold over a million worldwide, and if U2 sold 650k units in the US, that would make worldwide sales also fall over a million units. It seems statistically consistent.

I didn't... In fact i haven't played COD 4 yet... i plan to at some point, but im in no rush to do so at the moment... especially as retailers arr still charging £40+ for it. Last i looked in Game, it was only £7 cheaper than MW2
While I used to enjoy hearing Pachter knowing full well he may be wrong about things, when I watched the most recent Bonus Round on Gametrailers and heard him say that PS3's are just as powerful if not more powerful than PCs, he instantly lost credibility with me.
I love threads like this one because I get to watch lemmings endorse a guy that they regularly trash and I get to watch cows endorse a guy that they often defend.

I didn't buy it either. However, the day it came out, and even now, I'll have 15-30 people at just about any given time playing MW2. Most of them went played CoD4 for 2 years and didn't buy any other game besides Cod: WaW. I don't even think they considered buying it. I even sent one of my good PSN friends a copy of Uncharted 2 for his birthday and he played online with me for like 2 matches and then went back to playing MW2.
As much as I hate to say anything positive about Captain Obvious (PhD in Obvious Studies, Dean of Obvious State University (home of the fightin' Obviousnesses (huh?))) over there, he's right. There simply isn't any excuse for poor UC2 sales -- it has recieved literally unanimous praise, it was marketed well, and the PS3 has been selling like crazy. At this point in time, it should be at 2-2.5 million copies sold minimum.
The game is incredible and should have sold more than it did. What the hell is wrong with PS3 owners? I have to wonder how much this game would have sold if it had been a 360 exclusive?
UC2 is what we call a cult classic, a cult classic is a game, movie or album that not many people buy, but everyone who did buy it thought it was absolutely fabulous, a good example of a cult classic is the film underworld

i trully agree, from all of my 6/7 ****ates that own a PS3 only 1 got U2, the other simply dont even know the game, with xbox everyone one knows its games (meybe because 50% download off internet and others 50% only buys halo/cod/forza and those big one) with PS3 people dont really know wich are the must one wich aren't, and of course the price of the game totally sucks
He is not predicting a future game sales event he can look at the sales now. You may disagree if you want but he is looking at the present day sales and thinks they suck not some future release.

the first uncharted started off really slow and ended up selling 2 million plus copies, and uncharted 2 started off really good and has almost sold 2 million world wide already and will continue to have legs, If we want to talk about poor sales then lets bring up forza 3?
Since when is over 1 million copies of anything "Lackluster". Sure it's no Halo or MW2 but it's sold pretty well. ...At the same time though the game is amazing and if you have a PS3 and don't own Uncharted 2 then really why do you own a PS3? That's one thing about the PS3 that really baffles me, there are some amazing games out there but yet there are mediocre games that sell more than PS3 exclusives and many PS3 exclusives are great games. But then again you would also think everyone with a 360 would have Halo 3 and Gears yet neither of those sold for even half the install base (I think im not 100% sure there). You would think word of mouth alone would cause games like Uncharted 2 to sell at least as much as Gears.

Yes there is the huge chunk of the install base who bought it soleyfor a blu-ray player, but i'm sure the majority bought it for either a gaming system, or both.

Drake, by far, has the most character out of any video game character out there. If they made an Uncharted movie, i doubt that anyone can play the role of Drake perfectly, his character is just too unique
Also, i agree with the other guy. What are PS3 owners doing? Playing on Home? I own U2 but havnt played it since ive beaten it, im playing the God of War Collection now

Not on the PS3 they didn't. All software sales on PS3 is very off, people can afford it but then don't bother with games?
Well just about everybody on my friends list bought it aside from maybe 3 people have bought it. Barely any of them bought Uncharted 2 because it's not an FPS
