If I remember, a trailer for an awesome looking next-gen sci-fi stealth game called 'Dark Sector' was released at E3 2002. That was quite some time before the 360 was released, let alone announced. Sure, the game is now some horrid looking hack-and-slash game, but you get the point.
Fable took forever to be released and it was released in 04 and Fable 2 is now finally being released this year (if it doesn't get delayed) four years later. If they have started developing a game for next-gen, than, so what?
Im surprised its only just started.Resistance was being drawn up in the midst of ratchet and clank3 development which was a fair few years ago and resistance was one of the ps3 launch tutles so its not hard to draw comparisons.
I cant help but think ms are wanting a new sci-fi fps like halo because now bungie and other first party's are breaking up from microsoft theyre gonna re-invent if theyre gonna continue in the fashion they have of dropping a huge AAA or compelling game every year and both have been sci-fi first person shooters(well gears was third person)

As for the topic, 3-4 year development cycle = 5-6 year life cycle of the 360. If they're already developing for the next console, does that mean the 360 won't last pass its 5th year?

Let's go ahead and throw in Too Human and Prey. I know Prey was bandied about for 10-12 years. Too Human is around 8 years, I think.
