Microsoft buying exclusivity rights over Call of Duty franchise.

I heard this from a friend, can't give a source, but someone please tell me it isn't true.

He said that Microsoft were, or at least probably were going to buy the rights of COD over PS3, prevent it from any PS3 makes.

Is there any truth in his words? Thanks.

i got one of these ages on PSN bout the same topic at hand i just replied with lol chain mail fail.Till i see a post on Kotaku stating its happening i dont believe it till i get a good credible hard source.

Call of Duty is mediocre compared to KZ2, Gears 2, and Halo 3

They won't bother, even having exclusive rights to it won't make people jump ship. Plus they would have to pay so much money one would wonder if it would be worth it.

MW2 on the PC was a big blow to PC gamers, so I can understand the annoyance (due to it possibly being the start of something devs will do). However, it's still going to be a great game regardless.

Nah if you are like me you hate it because it's not like the originals. Too small maps with way too accurate automatic weapons + UAV + grenade spam and killstreak perks.

Long story short the game promotes too much camping. Imo killzone 2 does FPS really well, I tried it for a little while yesterday, the dynamic objectives on the battlefield is honestly really really fun.

I have heard a couple rumors like that lately:

* I have heard Microsoft is going to receive Grand Theft Auto 5 exclusively for the Xbox 360

* I have heard Micorosoft is going to receive Call of Duty as an exclusive franchise

I'm not really sure what to believe and for what reasons. It seems very reasonable that Microsoft could have purchased exclusive rights to Grand Theft Auto 5, especially when you consider that Microsoft purchased exclusive rights to the extra episodes for Grand Theft Auto 4. As far as Call of Duty goes, it is still necessary to program the software, so buying the "franchise" doesn't really help them. Microsoft probably would have purchased the exclusive release so that the next Call of Duty game is still developed by Infinity Ward and/or Treyarch, and then have it released only for Xbox 360.

Time will tell.
