They sold out of their initial shipment of a whopping six systems. I can see why they would have so much demand when they ship so few out at a time. :x

lol. Indeed, it'll be nice not to have a jet-engine in disguise near my entertainment center. 8)Naybe this "unprecedented demand" is referring to the Japan sales only. I'm sure it's selling well elsewhere but it's sold well pretty much everywhere else at some point so that wouldn't really be unprecedented.Fumpa
This is about demand for the new model, which isn't out everywhere yet.

Well I have a friend who won't be getting his new xbox until the end of july at the earliest. Now he did just order it last week, but it does still have a high demand in the US. He ordered it through Amazon if that makes any difference.
so it's a conspiracy?,not many people are going to believe that one mate. From what I've been told by people at Best Buy, MS shipped out a very low amount of units for the sole reason of them saying the demand is so high and making it appear as if they re extremely hard to get to increase the publics interest in it

Idk this dude at Best Buy was explaining to me his whole conspiracy and said they only had 5 of them shipped to the store. He was telling me how companies do this just to say the demand for it is extremely high and people will get the impression that everybody is buying it.
Idk, I'm not saying I believe that was their initial plan, but it seems like it could have that effect by appearing really popular

the 360 slim has actually had a price hike over here, it's 20 quid more than the 360 Elite, i won't be getting one until my jasper is out of warranty and that still has 2 more years on it.Im confused. All it is is a redesign with shiny black like the ps3. The ps3 slim had a price drop.

[QUOTE="stiggy321"]ROFL everyone is just replacing their old 360's... no one is buying this that doesn't already have one. The unprecedented demand is the 40 million people who want a slightly quieter, slightly more reliable, slightly not giant brick console that sounds slightly less like a 747 powering up... with wi-fi. So sad.delta3074how is it sad to want to upgrade your old hardware to a better ,more reliable model?,sounds like common sense to me, i am sure lot's of Ps3 owners upgraded to the slim model lol no they didn't, not like 360 users are upgrading to the slims... and who says its more reliable, microsoft?
[QUOTE="Santesyu"]lol no they didn't, not like 360 users are upgrading to the slims... and who says its more reliable, microsoft?it's still not sad, whichever way you slice it dude, it's even better common sense to upgrade if the model you have is prone to failure, your ststement about it being sad was just unfounded, lacking in logic and quite frankly pointless, time will tell wether the new slim is reliable, i have a feeling it will be. where in my statement did I say it was sad, you do know you are quoting 2 different game spot users LoL.[QUOTE="delta3074"]how is it sad to want to upgrade your old hardware to a better ,more reliable model?,sounds like common sense to me, i am sure lot's of Ps3 owners upgraded to the slim modeldelta3074
Didnt they say that if it breaks down..They can fix it over the phone the new one..That you dont need to send it in..They can work with you..Also if it gets to hot doesnt it shut down automatic or some thing..Not sure im just hearing this around the net..Considering my referbished garbage xbox just had a rrod..Its my second rrod sigh..Microsoft just issues you a piece of crap..Knowing the referbished model will break in a year..Than expect you to pay another 300 likei just did..Man what a racket..Im shocked no one has tried to sue them yet..Well if any thing it rrod at a good time didnt it..Im able to convince my wife to buy the new black one..Telling her the new one doesnt break..Not sure if i just lied to her or not lol..Only time will tell )>..

hardware wise, the 360 slim is an improvement from the regular 360, so it's very much worth it for current 360 owners who would want to.......where as the PS3 Slim was more to bring in new customers.....current PS3 owners didn't really have an advantage of "upgrading" unless you wanted HD Audio off the bat without needing a specific receiver....but besides that it would have been an actual downgrade for some (like myself who owns a 60gig BC version).
a better comparison would have been the PS2 Slim...imo, that was an upgrade because of its size (if you cared) but more importantly you had a built-in Ethernet port........although you lost the ability to add a hard drive.

Man your right I guess that will affect the sales numbers huh? Good thing no one traded in their old unreliable YLoD, and non disc reading PS3s for new Slims. It's also good that all those PS3 Slims that Sony was giving away with a TV purchase didn't count as sales either, or did they? Of course they did.
Get over it a sale is a sale, and people will be buying up those old Xbox 360s at a lower price. It's not like they are just going to use them to pave roads or something.

[QUOTE="Modshater"]too bad MS doesn't really use this revanue in anything for the owners intrest.donalbaneI guess they let the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation handle the philanthropy. Businesss is business.
I'll bet you that once those tax incentives for donating to non-profits expire you will see little to no news on that foundation any more.

I really don't want some long drawn out answer, just one or the other.

I'm getting one now and I haven't ever owned a 360 besides for 2 weeks last year when Walmart had a great special on the arcade model. I couldn't stand the jet engine sound and the cheap look of the 360 so I returned it. I love the new look of the 360 and it will go well with my shiny PS3 Phat model. Maybe I need to replace my white Wii also. I have this back-ordered from circuitcity.com for $264(total price) and not sure when I will get this. Funny thing I walked into a Super Walmart yesterday and they had a couple just sitting their and was tempted to buy itbut didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it when I get my other model. Sounds like Walmart got plenty of supplies at least from what I saw and other forums of people cancelling their online orders and just buying it their.

I agree with the guy. It's just from things I've heard, however, the reason wasn't always hardware issues but the craving for a better looking console...[QUOTE="88mphSlayer"]

well since nobody did a scientific poll, my only source is these forums and other forums
also Sony's repair service lets you trade in your launch ps3's for slim models at a discount (at least this was true in 2009)
so there had to be a real demand for it
My 2 year old Elite doesn't make a sound. What is up with you two.. Do you not install games to the HDD?xsubtownerx
Yes, but I've only got an old (now dead) arcade unit with a paltry 20GB HDD slapped on. Installing games reduces the noise considerably, but the noise from the fan is still fairly loud. Plus I can only install 2-3 games max., so the new model will get rid of both of those problems.
seems like a hate thread, sorry guys xbox is doing very well and will continue. Kinect will be bigger than Move, Reach will sell more than GT5, the list goes on and on. Its about time you "deal" with it. THe Sony is the failure, not the 360!
