I think this is the first time I see a company refusing refunds using game patches as an excuse... Even EA of all people offer refunds if people aren't happy with their games or if the games aren't running properly...

There really is no defending this...

I'm assuming this is why MCC was shipped the way it was. Microsoft was prepared for the complaints and knew they wouldn't be offering refunds by using the rational that since the game is being updated then it could still possibly work at some future point.

That can't possibly be a real comment from a real life human being.

Why? It's totally correct. Only TC is fudging the details. It's not like Ms is the only company doing this in the gaming industry. Ubisoft sure as hell isn't giving refunds for AC Unity and people don't have faces in that game. They moved the embargo back 12 hours specifically to cash in on day one dbuyers knowing they could refuse refunds. But being in the same boat as ubishit isn't exactly a place you want to be.

Dunno... The game also features 4 campaigns. Refunds aren't that necessary yet.

Man, it's hilarious how EA actually is the only major publisher that offers refunds.

And their new game was the only one to escape the bugfest galore in recent market, which makes it even more hilarious.

The irony graph is off the charts.

Yeah okay. Just saying there's obvious bias going on. Even EA gives refunds? IT makes it seem as though it's a universal practice in the industry. It's not.

You should still get an opportunity to get it. The package for the game details everything you will get when you purchase it. To only receive half of that would definitely upset people and they would want a refund. Sure of course an update is coming to fix it but some people just don't care to wait and want to move on. I say they deserve their money back.

@inb4uall: Last time I checked, console gamers usually tell PC gamers they can get refunds for their games as a point against the PC, and now all of a sudden giving refunds isn't a universal practise in any business (gaming included)?

You did prove my point though, you know Microsoft is doing something wrong here, so you have to point fingers somewhere else, try to make it seem that it's a-ok to deny refunds on games, Ubisoft and plenty of other companies already get torn apart on a regular basis for their shady practises, you have no excuse to even try to defend microsoft on this

The Master Chief Collection was purposefully released with online issues so they could be patched at a later date?

No, it was a large oversight most likely brought on by either a lack of playtesting or not enough playtesting.

I'm assuming most people buy Halo for the multiplayer and was a heavily advertised feature, if it does not work then you should give them a week to fix it then ask for a refund.

I find it hilarious that they have a no refund policy though, way to reward your customers.

I didn't really interpret it that way. I see it more as Ms decided to ship it as-is, knowing they could fix it later and not have to delay the game too much further into the holiday season but whatever. I've seen much more unreasonable things said around here.

@inb4uall: So basically... microsoft commited fraud, promised a feature at launch along with an e-sports tournament for said feature, only to not deliver on it...

You are making Microsoft look more and more shady... According to you MCC is basically a scam

And why would I do that. I'm literally pointing out that it's not a common practice in the to give refunds. It's perfectly fine to say that MS is denying refunds. It's kind of shitty of them considering the sate the game released in. I just don't like that you're trying to put a negative spin on news that is already negative. It's like when you see graphs that are misleading and don't represent the actual data. It's manipulative and I personally don't approve. I'm not defending MS or shifting blame. I'm just statign things as they are so people see the whole picture.

This made me laugh,,,hard.

"I know it's just your job, and it's my job as a consumer to notreward poor business practices, and this is poor business practice. Therefore it's Sony who will get my money and not Microsoft. I appreciate your time."

The irony is strong on this one.

But with that being said, he does have a valid point. The game is broken on it's current state and there is no valid excuse to this, 343 Industries screw this one...bad, is their fault for rushing the game on time for the holidays because that's what happened, this is indeed poor business practice at its finnest, release a game with non functional features, fix them later.

I'd refuse, it's not DriveClub we're talking about here, it will get fixed soon. Anybody asking for a refund is probably doing so to make a point beyond the point of compensation for the game.

This is why you don't buy digital. Even if it's going to be fixed, if you don't want to put up with it, you shouldn't have to. You as a consumer deserve to have your money back on a purchase you weren't happy with.

No company WANTS to give you a refund.

Also, its simple enough to take it back to the store and say the disk doesnt work with your receipt and get your moeny back.

If it still doesnt work after patches then im sure some people will be refunded if they are unhappy, they just want announce it.

My nephew got a free 360 repair before RROD and after his warranty.

no company WANTS but THEY DO, unlike what's happening here.

The free 360 repair was because the rrod exploded so bad in microsoft face they had to do it.

@bldgirsh: Yes, refunds are necessary. If 343 had any sense they would give people their money back. Instead, they'll wait until they get sued and then they'll end up having to pay BOTH the attorney's defending the suit AND give the class members a refund. I'm excited about the suit. I can't wait to join the class!

Exactly. If you bought the game and don't want it because it's a defective game you should have the right to return it.

It is ridiculous that the game launched the way it did. The fact taht Microsoft and Ubisoft try to avoid refunds, and bargain you with other shit is hokum.

Phil GOD Spencer now resides at 343 and it's his mission to have this game fully operational within a short time period. Things will get ironed out fairly soon hang tight. People need to realize to run 4 different games on 4 different engines is extremely difficult. MS has the money and the power to make this right and they will just hang tight peeps Phil GOD Spencer is on it.

How shameful, almost as bad as requiring a mobile game for 100% of your game.

This game is a mess and the people are lame.

When the multiplayer does work and doesn't crash, people ALWAYS VOTE FOR SLAYER/TEAM SLAYER/SLAYER BRS.

I want to play CTF, but NOOOO...

At least with the MCC as opposed to ACU, there is actual game content that is accessible... four games worth of content to be precise.

Either way, everyone in the gaming industry is going to learn from this autumn's snafus, and gamers especially (I hope) will learn that day one buying isn't wise with AAA blockbusters anymore.

I have played ACU without interruption since launch day. I'm going to trade in MCC soon if it isn't fixed. I'm sure @b4x would approve.

Looks like MS lost a customer and SONY gained one,

People need to quit their bitching about online not working now; PLAY SOMETHING ELSE UNTIL IT'S FIXED. Or play the 4 god damned campaigns with their respective skulls, difficulties, and co-op opportunities. MICROSOFT DOES NOT OWE YOU ANYTHING. The entire package is something that absolutely did not need to be made, but was for the fans. This is not Halo 5 people. Stop acting so god damned entitled. Don't want to wait for online? Then just resell the game and get back at least $40 of your money (on craigslist or somewhere). Jesus Christ.

Maybe ya'll should just be...THANKFUL that 343i actually was able to put out this amazing package where you can play remastered Halo w/ 60 FPS and co-op all on one platform. I would imagine it's difficult to take all these games and make them work online. Give them time for God's sake. As I said before, this whole package is something that didn't have to be made, but they did because they are an actual good developer and listen to fans such as me that want this.

Yeah I agree. Yes it was wrong to release the game in that state, they are fixing the problems and it is already much better.

It had only been two weeks, give them a chance.
