Microsoft finally got me.

I'm finally a MS supporter. I bought Bioshock today and plan to buy an Elite for my birthday on 9/11.

I hated the original Xbox because Halo doesn't do much for me, and there weren't enough games to convince me to buy one. Their hardware and periferals were poorly designed, and was more or less of a joke where I live. I'm also a Mac user as I generally don't like MS as a company.

Why am I posting all this hate? Because even after all that hate, they got me to buy their product. They improved their marketing and their design. The controller is possibly the greatest improvement a company has ever made to a controller across generations. They secured more than enough titles to warrent a purchase. Except for the price of the console and the games that go with it, I'm a happy customer. Good Job MS.

Now all I have left to buy is a PS3. Svarthek

You missed out on some amazing games for Xbox 1. But the 360 is a wise choice. You have many great gaming days ahead. Bioshock is great, too. I played it for a few hours today.

By the way, Microsoft is a business, guys. A very good business that is partly responsible for spreading the Western way to the rest of the world. That is, freedom of speech.

To each his own, but does a new system purchase really warrant a new thread in SW? I think we could do without that sticky as well.

Why hate MS? In case with the360 they always delievered, they even had enought balls to step it up and say that 360 has faulty Hardware. It is BAD that it brakes down, but at least ms faced that, and now are trying to improve that.

Other then that, it is cheaper (from all the addons i only have an extra controller and 2 rechurchuble batteries), it has more better games, and i personaly dont feel bad paying for XBL, the thing works fine, mp works, marketplace works, there is always something new to dl and so on.

The first XBox i loved as much as my PS2, it had HEAPS of good games. Just outa of my head:Forza, halo 1\2, Concer, Rallysport challenge 1\2, Riddic, Psi-Ops, Burnout 3\revenge, Mech assault 1\2, KOTOR, Splinter Cell 1\2\3, PGR 1\2, MK 5\6, Unreal Chempionship 1\2, Fable, Ninja Gaiden, Mercenaries, Full spectrum Warrior.... DAMN it was an awsome POWERFULL(at the time) console. I remeber playing it HEAPS. And it never had any problems, I droped it at least 3 times, Ive traveled with it to Russia from NZ and to NZ from Russia like 5 times, it was in my baggage, and it always survived. I smached the controller playing MK so many times it had a crack on it, and still worked fine. One friend of mine putted ham into Dvdv Drive for Fun.. AND IT STILL WORKS!

The thing was amazing whatever you say, and it was made by MS. I still have this very XBOX by the side with 360 and it still works fine.

So why not just get the PC version?Zhengi

That's a pretty bold statement to make. There generally wasn't a lot of things you could play back in the day, not now until the recent surge of simultaneous PC/Mac gaming has come aboard.

Forgive me if I don't believe that Mac comment you made in your first post.

It's just that, it's like saying you don't like Valve yet you got a PC (assuming you're a gamer).

I know a lot of people who like Bungie but don't like Halo (mostly Mac gamers. Although they still got Halo and why they hate is beyond me). But to say you don't like Bungie outright.... that's just scandalous.

MS is aight I give em support but not to much cause they have a habbit of trying to monopolise markets.

To be completely honest, if Steam wasn't incredibly unreliable and my account hadn't been hijacked for the 4th time in one year I would still be a PC gamer and would have bought Bioshock on Steam.Svarthek

Cool, bioshock is a game that should be plyaed by all gamers who don't hate fps.

For people saying this post isn't sw materail, let me proove them wrong : Congrats for getting sleepless nights worrying about when your 360 will break and paying for that experience (j/k).

I kinda want a 360 but I'm just kinda cash strapped. I just really want to play Resident Evil 5, so I'm basically waiting to find out the lead platform for the title. Bioshock is definitely a good reason (in my mind) to pick up a 360 (gaming pc is not an option for me) but ultimately I think Metroid Prime 3 will satisfy in the sorta Sci-Fi Action Adventure FPS hybrid genre.kayn83

Capcom is no Ubisoft or EA. They will make sure RE5 plays the same on both platforms.

I am also a firm hater of the original Xbox. I've said it before and I will say it again, there was no point in the Xbox even existing. MS was stupid with the Xbox for MANY reasons.

However, the good thing that has come out of it is that MS has learned from their mistakes and are working hard to make sure the 360 has a diverse library of games that appeal to a wide array of gamers. It isn't just a console for FPS players.

While I still dislike MS as a company, they have made a good product (minus the hardware issues) and have a great library that no REAL gamer can put down.

I bought my Xbox 360 about two months ago. And I enjoy it very much. However I hated my Wii. Which, in turn, got me to sell it and buy a 360.

From the moment I played Prey, till 2009 or 2010. I will enjoy my 360.

While I respect the 360's game library and I'm DESPERATE for Bioshock more than almost any other game before in my gaming 'career', I honestly can't bring myself to buy a 360. Maybe it's the hardware faults, the fact that I'm not a fan of online, the limited support MS showed for the original Xbox being foreboding, or (and I'll admit this one's quite petty) a bit of fanboyism carrying over from my PS2 days. But I just can't do it.

Don't do it now. Wait until the end of 08 to see if any games worth playing come out for the console (or wait to see if any games come out at all...you might have to wait until 09 ;)).
