So I still don't understand these ads, will they be popping up out of no where while you play your game?
depends on the games. In Yakuza or Pro Yakyuu Spirits, they are there to replicate real life. Like think of playing GTA and seeing, instead of some fictional restaurant, an actual McDonalds or The Keg. But it usually don't work this way...So I still don't understand these ads, will they be popping up out of no where while you play your game?

[QUOTE="lawlessx"]sure microsoft..just lower the price of XBLMiroku32Or make it free and have ads give the money for support the platform. That would be too consumer friendly for them.
I hope all you complainers also complained about in-game advertising in games like MGS4 or else you are all complete hypocrites. Can't believe people make such an effort to complain about some so insignificant.RR360DDI can't wait that while playing Halo 6 when MC takes his helmet off the screen lays over a interactive Coke add on his face.

Hilarious dude. Have fun waiting.
Remember folks in its current state the Xbox 360 dashboard is plagued with ad's every where andin every thing, you have to wait 5 minutes to play your game because of ad's, watch a video? 5 minute advertisements, the ad's not only take forever and your forced to watch them they slow down nxe as a whole...etc..etc
In reality 99% of the time the ad's are relevant to video games, and movies on the service and when they aren't they give you themes, gamerpics, and avatar items if you watch them, they take about a milisecond to ignore and bypass they don't disrupt NXE *which is confirmed just as fast as XMB if not faster*.
LMAO Oh, Microsoft... God Microsoft just loves bending over and raping it's customers, don't they? How anyone can defend this company I have no idea. There's no reason ads should even exist on the dashboard to begin with, yet they're sitting here trying to convince people to click them so they can get even more money.
While we're on the subject of money...I'm pretty sure I heard 20,000,000+ people are already paying $60/year just to be on XBL... that's over 1.2 billion dollars a year. :| If you think XBL costs ANYWHERE NEAR that much money to run, you need to be shot. There's simply NO REASON AT ALL Microsoft should be able to milk EVEN MORE money out of you after milking $1.2 billion dollars year after year for essentially nothing. Yet they have for years now, and will continue to. Why? Because you LET THEM. These ads are making them millions upon millions of dollars. Every time someone turns on their Xbox and sees those ad's, they make money. And these interactive ads will only make them MORE money, that's why they're trying to convince people so hard that they're a good thing. Because every time someone interacts with them, they'll make more money. So don't ever try to say that Microsoft charges for online because of the "costs of running XBL" again. This is definitive PROOF that that couldn't be more wrong. And get ready, because this is just the beginning. After Microsoft put ads all over the dashboard and the 360 owners didn't do anything about it, and Microsoft increased the fee to $60 for NO REASON and you guys didn't do anything about it... now Microsoft realizes that they could just have their way with you. Expect to be paying $100/year and have even more spam all over your dashboard in the coming years. The 360 is now officially nothing more than Microsoft's cash crop. They're going to keep harvesting until there's nothing left.
And I think it's time change those farm animal nicknames around here. The only "cows" getting "milked" these days are 360 owners, and since they've proven that they will pretty much let Microsoft do whatever the hell they want and put up with it, it'll only get worse and worse.

While ingame advertising is happening, the types of ads microsoft is referring to in the article are those that simply take up tile space around xbox live. All the "interactive" aspects are regarding kinect. for example: you watch a coke ad that says "enter a contest on this website" and you say: "xbox more" and it takes you right to the website. I doubt the ads will be significantly more intrusive than the current ones. People (including me) are getting angry because ms could be spending money elsewhere to actually benefit gamers rather than improve ads which nobody actually cares bout. Regardless, I dont have kinect nor am i ever going to invest in one so it doesnt matter to me.So I still don't understand these ads, will they be popping up out of no where while you play your game?

There is a LOT of marketing revenue to be made, and if you gamers don't give this great marketing and profit idea  a chance, you are going to affect our huge profitable bottom line (we are projecting even higher profits than our already amazing profits but we need your help). Please give this Kinect advertising using you gamers to get the products out there a fair shake, we are trying to secure even more Advertisements for Kinect, and we need you guys cheerleading for some of these companies to come on over. Many of these companies we are trying to work with to get them to sign up for Kinect Advertising are reluctant to sign up for this particular service because of your guys initial negative reception of the idea, which is a huge moneymaker on our end, especially when we factor in all the advertising you guys are going to do for us.
Please, give interactive advertisements you can twit to the tweet elite with your twitters a chance.
Please, give adverts using your Kinect a chance. We created Kinect and we figured you guys never saw this coming, but we did, and Kinect is wonderful. We love it, and we know you do too. Check out our sales on Kinect the numbers don't lie, and we need you guys out there for Coke, Doritos, Mountain Dew, and Crisco.
Please...try it out, you will see the joy. You will understand why you bought Kinect for $150.
Thank you for agreeing to try out this amazing interactive experience. :o

Cheeze itz
you have 8 seconds to decide or we will make the choice for you"

Best post I've read in a long time.
Kojima has done this within his last 2 games... but he handled the in a very sober way, not oversaturating the game and stuff.
Let's see how MS handles it.
Someone insert that rrod billboard here please.
I like ads on the dashboard. Its a nice touch. Its no more of a hassle than driving down the roads seeing billboards.
Are you blind? Someone definitely cares about those ads. Their name is Microsoft, and those ads are making them millions of dollars. This isn't an improvement with "you in mind", it's an improvement with Microsoft's own wallet in mind. More people clicking and messing with the ads = more money. Here's an example of that the price line might be for Microsoft's ad system. Ad view on dashboard = $.05 Ad click to watch commercial = $.15 Ad interaction = $.30 Obviously it's just an example, but you can get the point. This is simply just a new way for them to make even more money.People (including me) are getting angry because ms could be spending money elsewhere to actually benefit gamers rather than improve ads which nobody actually cares bout.

So basically, you pay MS to watch ads, and lemmings are okay with that?spike6566I like seeing the little vid ads that show up in the dashboard. I think their cool. Its honestly the reason I pick xbox live over psn. Psn looks like a ghost town.
So does this mean that XBox will finally be crowned the exclusives King? I mean, with all those exclusive ads...

Guys before have been wrong... THIS is sig worthy!!
Seriously, give the ads a chance... and leave Britney alone while you're at it.
MS needs the ad revenue to fund the development of quality content, like all the games they've been putting out. They also need to have the funds to maintain the servers for all the games on their network.
Don't forget that the R&D for a piece of high-quality, cutting-edge piece of tech like the 360 doesn't come cheap, nor does the extensive testing required to ensure it doesn't release with some ridiculously high failure rate. I mean, could you imagine?
They mean relevant to the gamer, not the game. And I don't like this, ads are always annoying. The least they can do is lower the price of live.LINK
