Microsoft has heard complaints, improved performance of BC games

Looks like Halo Reach, Banjo Nuts and Bolts, Dirt Showdown, Gears of War 3, South Park, Fable 2, and others have all gotten better in the FR department.

This is great, encouraging news! I didn't think they were going to be able to improve it much. I'll be testing Halo and Banjo when I get home from work.

Cows now have one less thing to be fake mad about, now.

I can play those games they were meant to be played. On my consoles.

Glad to see MS continuing to improve their console BC. Sucks that for Sony you have to pay for it and/or buy your games again

We get it. You don't care about BC but many many others do. There literally is no need for you to respond in these threads since we know your thoughts about BC.

Microsoft seems to be the real ones for gamers and consumers. Also as expected in these parts, some people are still missing the bigger picture here. Games are games and getting to play these games from previous generations on one current console is ideal. It was only the change of format that could hinder the possibility of backward compatibility before. But now there are digital versions of games especially last generation, there's no excuse why there shouldn't be a form of backward compatibility on current consoles. Microsoft offers them for free, while others like Sony charges you.

There are games that I didn't own last gen but thanks to Games With Gold, I could play these Xbox 360 GwG games on my Xbox One thanks to the free backward compatibility. Catching up on backlog is hard enough on one system as it is, it gets harder switching systems for these games. Also you're able to use any external hard drive with no space limits for the Xbox One, I have a 5TB hooked up. So I don't need to worry about managing space for the last gen console when I have the option to manage them all on only the current console, Xbox One. You can't really say that for the PS4 nor the PS3, they're still lacking external hard drive support for games. And with only the PS4 2TB internal hard drive limit, they're going to be doing a lot of switching and deleting and re-installing issues in the long run. Backward compatibility is a great option, don't let some of these folks make you think paying to play your old games is better, ever.

Glad I'm able to play Stick of Truth on my Xbone, and I'm happy MS is improving upon said service. I just hope publishers will be less dickish, because that's what it's all about.

@LJS9502_basic: The only salty ones I see are the ones reacting negatively towards an option that benefits the consumer, and was implemented properly.

Its simple they shouldn't add games that are not ready. Mass Effect shouldn't be on the playable today list.

Certainly some good news there. Microsoft is really coming back from their disastrous Xbone unveiling.

Apparently the fan base would rather play old games.....why waste money on new?

Xbox One is my first xbox so bc is a game changer for me, it's amazing and without it we wouldnt have alot of Rare Replay games. Microsoft are kings this gen, for the gamer mentality for real.

@drummerdave9099: That's interesting because according to some select posters around here the BC worked fabulously despite thousands upon users complaining (and users here telling them they were lying).

Glad M$ listened to the actual complaints, noticed the problems, and somewhat addressed some of the problems as the corporate apologists aren't helping any company improve.

This is good news for those that make use of the limited BC on Xbone, however my launch 2013 Xbone is strictly for Xbone new gen experiences as I still have a few 360s around the house that I'll have forever (since I have a massive 360 library the Xbone can't even play).

I wish Halo 4 BC weren't a solution to avoid porting it as MCC DLC, I'd rather have that, would even pay a good $20 for that.

Anyhow, I will test this on Gears when I get home, hope we see improvements all around, curious how Mass Effect holds up with latest update.

Yep. A couple of days ago I received a 500mb update for South Park even if I felt the game ran perfectly fine. They even gave the DLC for free. Thank you based Microsoft.

They need a fix for Gears of War 3. It's not unplayable but it could be better imo. Also they need Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey on there ASAP!

You mean Reach? I would love to see all the multiplayer maps from that game be added to the MCC! It would give the game some new legs, but I think 343 wants everyone on Halo 5 and off the MCC.

The problem is that first impressions are hard to overcome. It's good that they're working on it, but they should be more up-front about how poorly it was implemented initially and how much it's improved. Give us numbers and statistics. Make it unarguable.

I don't care how good they run on X1, $15.00 a BC game I already own on 360 or no deal. :P

But I do agree with your point on BC. Prior to MS BC breaktrhough, Sony had a valid reason for their subscription services. However, now that MS has pushed BC as a valuable service to their fans, Sony would do very well to follow suit. Kudos to MS.
