Seriously why isn't Sony more like Microsoft. Microsoft paid more money to advertise Halo 3 then to make the game itself. I see ads all day like Lost Oddssey, and Frontlines. They should be sued for false advertiseing. I says on the ad to play with 64 players online when it is only 50. This is the only reason why there games sell so good.manystylez
Well, 64 players online with PC. Anyway, think of how rich Microsoft are, and then think of how rich Sony are. There is a massive gap, really.
M$ is America
Sony is Japan, that's why

So there has never been a well advertised game that failed at retail?
How do you guys even come up with this stuff?

No their isn't :?
There is, especially when you consider Sony invests in alot more markets than Gaming. Microsoft only has PC Software and Gaming to worry about.

Sony: Revenue ▲ Â¥8.2957 trillion YEN ($76.201 billion USD) (2007)
Microsoft: Revenue▲US $51.12 billion (2007)
I see Sony advertise their TVs A LOT i the U.S. (those annoying commericals with Peyton Manning and stuff.) And you see plenty of video game commercials as well. And the system commercials. Microsoft did the huge thing with Halo here, but you think they advertise AT ALL in Japan???

Yeah, but those revenue comes from multi markets. I mean Sony allows x% of $ in the gaming market, x% in the cellphone, x% in the TV... the numbers go down quickly. And most of the $ goes into the movie and tv market.[QUOTE="f50p90"][QUOTE="thrones"][QUOTE="f50p90"][QUOTE="thrones"]Anyway, think of how rich Microsoft are, and then think of how rich Sony are. Japan probably thinks the same thing about M$.
M$ probably doesnt advertise in Japan. And Sony doesnt advertise a lot in the U.S.

Sony advertises plenty in the US. :?
Nintendo has had the best marketing this gen. Sony's were awful at the start but have improved. MS' aren't really that special, they just do a lot of them so people are forced to pay attention.the-very-best
Really, what awars winning advertisements have sony madintendo for that matter,MS have been the best advertisers in the western world this gen, their *** adverts are somewhat strange but im sure, their trying their best
tsk tsk best Marketers advertising is only just part of marketing.
And yes MS are currently the best at generating hype, Nintendo the best at generating attention to their product.
Sony was the best back last gen, and the gen before with the PS2 and PS1 - intelligent marketing at an untapped market, kind of like what Ninty is doing now (different audience though)
