according to this article micro is going to make a bid for take 2 studios. Why cant microsoft just concentrate on making their own games instead of trying to buy everybody up like EA?

Microsoft is nothing like EA reallyCouth_
Thery are ALOT like EA. Instead of coming up with cool stuff on their own, they have resorted to trying to buy out the competition, similar to EA's entire business plan. They are both attempting as much of a monopoly as they can get.
I really wish MS would just work with what they have a pump out some good internal games for once. If they don't get their act together they're going to be caught with their pants down next gen.Tiefster
ms is doing a good job of getting 3rd parties to make their games multiplat, but at the same i gotta give sony credit for not worrying about games going multiplat and focusing more time and resources to the first and second party devs.

Im sorry i dont understand your langauge? Could you put that in lemens terms without any aconyms please?
1) Want to talk about understanding language? For a person who is so fixed on language and grammer, I'd expect you to know how to spell acronyms...
2) I stand by my statement. This is all speculation and not fact.
3) You start a topic that sounds interesting, and the worst you do is bring nothing to the table...in reference to Reggie Fils Aim...
4) If you're that slow, FTL= For The Low

Oh I see.
It's bad when MS tries to buy Take-Two...
But it's good when Sony buys Guerilla, Zipper interactive and many more developers to increase the number of first party studios.
Wait a minute...

Are you honestly comparing Guerilla and Zipper and the others that Sony bought to Take 2? Most of the studios sony purchased were making games for them anyway.

And Take-Two hasn't been making games for the Xbox 360? Damn, I guess neither Bioshock, nor GTA IV exist anymore.
It doesn't make a difference what developers are mentioned in this conversation. The developers under Sony's umbrella didn't magically appear in Sony's roster, Sony bought them.

The difference with those situations is that those developers cut their teeth with building intilectual properties for Sony. EA and MS are just outright buying i.p.'s and would be keeping them from gamers who didn't want to buy a MS console.[QUOTE="Tiefster"]I really wish MS would just work with what they have a pump out some good internal games for once. Because people really cared about them when Sony bought them, right?
Really, this would be a bad move. It'd be like if Sony bought Square, only idiot fanboys would be happy.

Here's a list of 3rd party developers that have created (quality) new IPs that were published by Microsoft:
Bioware (Jade Empire, Mass Effect)
Epic (Gears of War)
Silicon Knights (Too Human)
Bizzare Creations (PGR, Geometry Wars)
Mistwalker (Lost Oddysey)
DICE (Rallisport Challenge)
Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege)
Bige Huge Games (Rise of Nations)
Day 1 (MechAssault)
Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden, DoA)
Realtime Worlds (Crackdown)
its business plain and simple, who cares, i am still having a great time with my ps3. ms does what is best for ms. sony does what is best for sony, and nintendo well nintendo does what is best for ninty.LoRoseUp
Microsoft does what's best for it's customers
Sony does what's best for $$$
Nintendo does what is best for Soccer Mom's and Grandma and Grandpa
Rockstar might come with too big of a price tag to pick up....because GTA=HEAD CASH COW among CASH COWS.jg4xchamp
You do realize that we're talking about Microsoft; biggest, richest comapny in the world, right?
[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]The thing is Microsoft hasn't bought the studios that got them far. SSCyborg
They bought Bungie. :D
Yeah, but before they were well known. Who could've guessed a little development team from Seatlle could make Microsoft the juggernaut it is today?

Keeping IPs from gamers that didn't want to buy an MS console? Not MS's problem. If Sony or Nintendo was in the position to purchase Take-Two, I'm sure they wouldn't care either. Why do you think these companies try so hard to secure exclusives in the first place? So you have no other choice but to buy their console to experience them.

Except Naughty Dog and Insomniac both sold Crash Bandicoot and Spyro...so Sony didn't aquire any of those rights, they bought them in able to create new IPs like Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter

hahhahahah this is just funny........
well this is how i see it
microsoft= does was best for them they dont give a crap about their costomers why i think that way well they released 1 year earlier a console with problems....... ooo and over price b/c the 360 cost of production is around 150 dollars...
sony= well sony cares a little more in my opinion again my OPiNION why FREE internet even tho is not the best internet in the world but they could make a lot of money out of it.. and sony is selling the ps3 for less money then the cost of production.....

Buy up everyone? They are doing the quite opposite since a lot of their studio's are being set free.

You'll end up like nintendo if you did that. Why must MS "make" their own games? MS have always been publishers.
Except Naughty Dog and Insomniac both sold Crash Bandicoot and Spyro...so Sony didn't aquire any of those rights, they bought them in able to create new IPs like Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter
loganh92
Where did I mention Naughty Dog or Insomniac or either of those games? Sony doesn't even own Insomniac, they operate second party, like Rare was to Nintendo.
And hold on, Sony didn't inherit the Killzone IP when they bought Guerilla? They didn't inherit the SOCOM IP when they bought Zipper Interactive? Oh wait, they did.

And was there ever a Killzone or Socom game on any system other than a playstation before sony bought them? oh wait, no.
I really dont understand this criticism. How are they buying everyone up? Where is the sense in that comment? They let loads of studios go this year like Bizarre Creations and Bungie. They already had fewer studios than sony, they let go some to make it even fewer, but if they try to aquire more it's evil microsoft buying everyone up?
