New details, fresh screenshots.

Microsoft has made Crimson Dragon official.

The game that was codenamed Project Draco was playable at an Xbox 360 10th anniversary event in Akihabara, Tokyo last week. There, Microsoft confirmed the new name, which had been revealed by the Australian Classification board earlier in the month.

Japanese magazine Famitsu (via Andriasang) reported that the Kinect game is due out on Xbox Live Arcade at some point this year. Crimson Dragon is the brainchild of Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi. And, like Dragoon, is an on-rails shooter.

You automatically progress forward through the game's stages, but you control your dragon's movement to avoid obstacles and incoming attacks.

You use your right hand, left hand or both hands to attack (via Kinect). Your right hand locks on and launches homing attacks, your left fires powerful single shots.

A spirit gauge, which gradually fills over time, is used for more powerful attacks - wave both hands when it is full for a screen-wiping bomb attack.

New screenshots, below, reveal dragon customisation. You can grant your dragon new skills by feeding them, and equip weapons, including cannons.

This looks like the first REAL Kinect title. Looks great, potentially.

I think the first set of images, save for the poor quality, look rather good. Kinectimals and Star WArs Kinect are rather good looking console games. Rail shooters have the potential to be visual stunners.

I don't own a kinect and even though I love Panzer Dragoon, I'm not going to buy a kinect just for one or two games, but with that said, never got why on rails games get such a bad rep, Starfox and the panzer dragoon games are all awesome

I'm looking forward to this as Panzer Dragoon Orta was like my favorite Xbox game last gen, I'm kind of hoping though that even though it's a Kinect title that it's done like Child of Eden was done, with that "Better With Kinect" but still playable with standard controls. This is the first I heard it was going to be an XBLA title though, hope that doesn't mean it's too short, but I thought Panzer Dragoon Orta was highly replayable so I hope it has that going for it.lamprey263

Also, I don't think the game will suffer at all from being a XBLA game.

Looks amazing, release date? Panzer continues to spawn greatness.
