Even if these are all just rumors, how dumb can people be? A controller that comes out a full year after the original release of a console will garner no 3rd party or consumer support. Not to mention that all planned games for the 360 do not even touch the subject of motion sensetivity. Furthermore, a motion sensetive entertainment device will have to square off against the Wii, a surefire way to failure. Honestly, this rumors should stay rumors. It really would make the company look stupid.

MS doesn't need gimmicks to sell consoles, they just rely on good games.

MS does have a habit of reacting to the competition ( the Elite, a perfect example of harddrive envy)

its possible that a patch could add motion sensing to previous games. besides to game will force you to have it so no need to worry about alienating customers :)

And that my friend is why I am suprised that MS would even consider making such a move. We all know that the Wii has basically won this generation in sales, but MS is trying one last move to cut them off, I guess. To bad its bound to fail.

Why are cows and sheep terrified of MS releasing a motion sensor controller? Yall didn't freak out when they released a steering wheel. Its just another way of controlling games. The fact it will be FAR SUPERIOR to Sixxaxis or the Wiimote must be the reason. It will simply be an option MS will ask 3rd party devs to implement in future titles. So calm down.

mirlegend, you are in a wrong state of thought. It is impossible to successfully implement motion sensetivity to games built around the idea of a controller of buttons alone. Furthermore it is unlikely that a consumer that has brought the 360 will buy a new controller for games that are likely never to find release that support motion sensetivity on the 360. And Halo 3 is not supporting such a controller: how then would MS think this new idea to be successful if their blockbuster game will not, or has no plans to support it?

Here I am fighting against the rumors. I also realize that rumors just don't come from nowhere. It is possible that MS is not planning anything, but its also possible that they are.

I bet MS will integrate there motion sensing on the windows pc platform first as its much easier to update the drivers and add a api that will convert gesturesinto key-presses . And will only be used by the users will. So wait a while and we should See Microsoft bring the controller to vista soon.

just like the elite was a rumor. now look what happened, microsoft made a PS3 wannabe. I would not be surprized if motion sensing was on their list as well.

Well, the PS3 was a  wannbe, but at least sony didn't overextend the motion detection. Overextending your reach invites failure.

I really can care less if they plan on releasing gimmick controls.

Just as long as its not their prime motive on selling games.

I own a Wii, and plan on getting the PS3 in a year or 2 (when the price drops). However, I don't believe either the 360 or PS3 are able to pull off motion sensing, at least for the time being.

If good games sold consoles, wouldn't 360 be outselling the Wii? It currently has a much bigger library, with much more diversity and great games.

if such a controller is made it will be like sonys and microsofts previous sidewinder rather than a wiimote. a few months back modders made a tilt controller and externally (without software) they managed to use it on older 360 games like burnout and xbox back compat flying game. if it can be done externally then surely its not out of reach for a game to receive a patch to do it.

i dont see why companies wont support the function in upcoming games. its not like it will take a valiant effort to implement it and if its out in time im sure halo 3 will support it since it will work very nicely with the vehicle side of the game. if its advertised along side halo and put in retail shops for people to try then it has every chance of doing well.
