Either way, I would assume Sony has contracted exclusivity deals for both games (which is not surprising).
MGS4 couldn't even work on the XBOX 360.
Konami has already confirmed that they need Blu-Ray.
Metal Gear SOlid 4 could be by far the biggest game ever in terms of space.
Same with FFXIII.

are you a developer? from my experience, PS3 and 360 titles look about the same. and MGS4 looks great, but it certainly hasn't reinvented the wheel.
You do know the only reason why they are so big is because they have to at least duplicate all of the data so they can reduce load times, plus there is hardly any good compression for blu-ray because it isn't needed yet...MGS4 couldn't even work on the XBOX 360.

Do you know that MGS4 will be one of the most CGI heavy games ever? Not to mention the amount of detail put into them will be hollywood movie type quality. The opening cutscene alone has a bigger budge than most video games.
Blu-Ray is neeeded, this has already confirmed by Konami so don't post about things you don't know about.

stop spreading misinformation. CGI is never used in MGS games. CGI is pre-rendered footage. MGS always uses REAL-TIME, IN-ENGINE CUTSCENES.
learn the difference between prerendered and real-time
PS: I already know CGI takes up more space than real-time scenes.
I lol@ people who fail to realize that just for the fact that the 360 does atrocious in Japan you won't see MGS4 and FFXIII on the 360.
That's just one of the reasons though. The 360 can't handle FFXIII or MGS4.
Actually they already said that there is going to be FMV to open MGSIV with live action sequences and 2D stuff. I don't know if this is just a montage that summarizes the series so far or the official open and ending to the game.
JiveT
FMV is not CGI. unless I'm mistaken, FMV is recorded live-action footage, which they have also had in all previous MGS games except for Portable Ops.
PS: I just looked it up, and FMV is often used to refer to CGI. The important fact is that MGS never used pre-rendered or recorded scenes to represent the characters of the games, or events that unfolded in the storyline. FMV has been used in exposition and establishing atmosphere.

I played all three MGS games for consoles and I don't ever remember seeing live actors being used...I got this from some article they posted about Kojima being in Hollywood to film something for the game and the production costing more than most DS games or something to that effect. It's hard to imagine them not using CGI in some fashion if that's the case. Pretty much everything filmed now involves CGI one way or another.

"FMV in games today consists almost completely of extremely high-quality pre-rendered video sequences (CGI)"

kthxbi.
Technicalities don't really matter though since my point still stands. MGS4/FFXIII can't go to the 360.

if you pay attention to the end of mgs and mgs2 they have some real life shots of people and some parts mgs they show real soilders during the gulf war.[QUOTE="Mordred19"][QUOTE="JiveT"]Actually they already said that there is going to be FMV to open MGSIV with live action sequences and 2D stuff. Yes, I looked it up too. The point is that CGI is not used to represent the characters in the game. FMV, live-action footage, not CGI, is used as exposition in certain scenes.

yes, archival footage from news agencies and historic collections. they show nukes, people, rockets, soldiers, but never the characters themselves or events in the story. all the actual cut-scenes have been real-time. Of course, Kojima might really want to splice things up, so he might yet use some other mediums to mess with gamer's heads, and present this story.

what PS3 game has utilized the blu-ray storage technology? answer, none. MGS and FF will be about the same storage space of the current gen games.
