John Carmack is a good american game designer. Doom 4 should be 3 discs on the 360 and thats that. Just do it, btw Carmack says the 360 is the best console to design for, and he is right.Metsvideogame
as im not a game developer i dont feel qualified to anwer that
Too bad the last couple of games he's done have been huge piles of brown. xxastrocreepxx
Quake 3 was one of the best competitive multiplayer games of all time. How can you call that bad?
This needs to be the best FPS ever. If it doesn't push the genre farther than ever, what the hell is he doing? A 3 disc game being gimped compared to 1 disc games. I actually want to see how this turns out. I'm assuming the PS3 version should look like Crysis and the 360 will look like Quake 1 if you have to drop graphic quality from something that needs 3 dvds to something that can fit on 1.

Quake 3 came out almost a decade ago. LOL @ suggesting his recent games aren't bad by bringing up Quake 3... rather than Quake 4. >_<

ID didn't make Quake 4, at least research the subject before discussing it.

Lets look at some of his modern classics:
Orcs & Elves (NDS) 2007... 68
Quake 4 is (360) 2005... 74 and it is by iD... unless you know something that Gamespot and IGN don't... which you don't. 360... not to mention that a 74 is actually a higher grade than the last game they made.
Doom 3 (XB) 2005... 77
Yeah, iD has a strong history with console games. They have some high ranked PC titles, but since this thread is clearly about the 360 I think the quality of their console games is a more important factor.

Quake 4 was developed by Raven Software, ID just provided the engine and supervised.
Orcs and Elves is a handheld game, developed by Fountainhead Entertainment and John Carmack, ID didn't have much to do with it, and it was pretty decent considering how far it was from Carmacks comfort zone.
Doom 3 on consoles looked and played worse, the only thing going for it was the co-op mode. But doom 3 was a good game, but it didn't meet it's potential.
Since when are we only talking about console versions?

I actually loved both of them as well. I thought Raven did a great job with Quake 4 especially. It just felt so old school, but looked decent enough for an early 360 game, and was just plain fun. It had a nice, long single player experience against a classic and awesome enemy in the Strogg. You got to be armed to the teeth with a great selection of weapons, you had vehicle levels, and boss fights. And how can any shooter fan not dig the dark matter gun for crying out loud?
Microsoft isn't going to do that for Rage.
A game like... Halo 4 or something big like that, but not Rage.
