"Unangst cited a recent survey held by Microsoft that stated 10 million surveyed Vista owners consider themselves "gamers," compared against healthy sales of Vista in excess of 40 million copies this year."

And that's just Windows Vista. But it shows that there are tons of PC gamers ready for the next-gen of PC gaming.

I'm one of them as well, though 10 million seems to be a bit of a stretch. Some of those 'gamers' probably stick to nothing more than minesweeper, solitaire, maybe some chess and bejeweled. :lol:

The only thing on Vista that is worth a spit is DX10... No DX10 would mean I put XP on my half baked computer.

they probably mean the people who have the vista opporating system. Whether or not M$ wins the console war they win the war in terms of cold hard cash sticking out their ass.

You know what's upsetting about statistics like that, though? Only 150,000 or so of those gamers bought quality stuff like Stardock's GalCiv 2. We lament the failure of games like Psychonauts, but for every Psychonauts, I think there's probably 5+ more quality PC games that don't sell as well as they should. (Gal Civ 2 isn't an example of that, because it's considered a commercial success, but you know what I mean.)

10 million Vista gamers? Umm... yeah right. I'm no mathematician, but it seems to me that Vista + Suck = Less than 10 million gamers. They probably manufactured 10 million copies of Vista and that's where they get their statistics. Everyone knows Vista sucks, particularly gamers, I don't believe 10 million people follow MS that blindly.

Butta cant run crysis and all those 360 multiplat games :( (bioshock, UT and stuff).

I loved the way Peter Moore called it the most game friendly operating system ever created. Why is it I havn't been able to play STALKER for ages? And why does WoW only run at 60fps when my old computer (which scored 7 times less on 3d Mark) ran it around 90fps?

Alot of people dont mind lowering settings and enjoying a game. I for one dont, and thats why i will be spending another $350-400 on a card, so i can play crysis w/ high settings 4xAA with no problem.

Using a 360, and still happily using DX9 and XP, oh and AGP.....did i mention i'm happy that way!! I know microsoft will prolly say stuff like upgrade to Vista to use DX10 and stuff but as the saying goes "If what you got ain't BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!" and since my system plays everything i threw at it just great(Oblivion,Far Cry, Fear, Quake 4, Painkiller etc etc) i'm gonna stay on the AGP platform for a long time on my kick ass Geforce 7 7600GT w/ 256MB GDDR3

Funny that. The lemmings eat up the statistics of the 7 million XBL users and the 11.6 million Xbox 360 sold, but all of a sudden its total BS how there 10 million gamers on Vista, the the 200 million total PC gamers out there. Yet all the statistics are from Microsoft.

OS sales are in an entirely different league than video game software sales. My guess is that MANY of the new PCs being bought today come with vista preloaded, and with Vista only being $10-15 more than a copy of XP (OEM copies at least), many people are making the switch.
