Microsoft will be making an announcement tonight during CES about a new Xbox 360 application called Xbox 360 Game Room. The interview was originally posted on Channel 9, but it was soon pulled from the site. Thankfully, some people were able to view the interview before it was pulled off the website.

According to NeoGaf posted Iced_Eagle, Robbie Bach of Microsoft talked about the new application for a short time during the interview session. He described the service as something that will link this generation to previous generations. The goal of the service seems to focus on ****c titles and how they are still fun in the modern day. What this means exactly is unclear. Could it be something like ****c arcade titles where your avatars walk around in a PlayStation Home like environment as you play ****c titles from the past? Anything is possible, but we'll have the official details later tonight.

No other details about the service were explained, but the official announcement is scheduled to occur later tonight at around 9:30PM Eastern once Microsoft holds their CES conference.

Please don't let it be like home, there are a lot better things microsoft can be doing with their money. Like making more games.

Does anyone remember that survey for a couple months back? It showed the avatars in an arcade setting....I believe it asked what the best name for it would be

MSFT should just be more innovative about their projects. Sony and Nintendo are the pioneers of avatars in video games.

Sounds like it.

its just an arcade...Although, it could be first step. If MS plans on creating something like home, this is the best way. In stead of trying to do everything at once, put out peices one at a time...

lets wait for some more details. There has to be something unique about it as otherwise it wouldnt really be any different from the arcade now...except, you have to walk to each game

Well 360 quite suppricly innovative (not about 3 year warranty as some cats think :p) from MS in terms on online and achivments is popular thanks to them, still riping Mii's most innovative thing this gen was quite shameless.

Maybe they want to have some sort of arcade-style payment model, where you pay 5 MS points or something and play the game until you die a certain number of times...that would be crazy.

There will be live stream from CES

But remember that this is not gameing event so there will be lot of talk about Windows and everything else too. Steve Ballmer will be keynoteing so it might be fun to watch, since he like to act like a clown sometimes :P

If they charged by the death, you'd spend about $35 in MS points to play one Battlefield match....

But you know what, if I could spend 5 MS points to play one whole match, that would be kind of cool. I don't want to spend 1200 points or however much it is for the full game because I wouldn't play it regularly, but I could see myself putting in a match or two every once in a while if it was just 5 MS points each time.

If they do that sort of thing, and it's something like 5 points per game and not something like 20 points, I would like that. I think a lot of people out there would use it.

I wonder if you're going to have to buy the games or if it's all going to be 'free with Gold' like 1 Vs 100 (which is actually quite good).
