I wonder how they'll carry over the decisions you make, like at the very end
when you choose to let the council live or die
SolidSnake35It's probable they will take a canonical ending and stick with it (usually the most common in sequels), or go the cheap route and make those hard decisions practically irrelevant.
Maybe the council is dissolved in the time between sequels, maybe you end up with a council full of new faces, and the dialogue changes between "We have rebuilt the council" and "We are the new councilmen because of x reason". Something like the initial scene in Mass Effect, where the reason why you're sent (and the initial attitudes of Anderson and the Ambassador) change depending on your selected baground.

Thats not necessarily true. They may do what happened in KOTOR2.
At the start of the game in KOTOR2, they made to relate the events of KOTOR to an NPC, and then the story was adjusted according to your responses. But on the other hands, those decisions had a very small impact on the overall story.

Well, it's essentially option 2, only with the game reading that info off the first game's savefile instead of having you manually input the data. How relevant to the story is up to the developer, although I guessed not too much because otherwise it's a lot of workload for the team that could go into a better main questline or better secondary quests.
