My mouth is still wide open after witnessing a revolution in gaming that I didn't think would happen for years. What Microsoft unveiled to us today was simply astounding! Absolutely brilliant! Mesmorizing! Game Changin! And whatever other adjective you would like to use. Not only did they have one of if not the best E3 conference to date with the games they announced but with Natal they have ushered in a new generation of gaming without even unleashing a new console. With this announcement the Wiimote even with M+ looks totally outdated. Microsoft, congratulations on a job well done!

It looked awful, the movements were off and there are no applications for this in real games, FPS RTS even sports games would not work with it, absolutely awful.

I disagree with the movements being off. I thought they were pretty spot on.

Sony Eye Toy. ALthough, I think microsoft is trying to make the push further with this technology because I haven't seen anything about Eyetoy for a while.

What you saw were tech demos, not a finished product. MS has definately out done Nintendo, and Sony with this.

When he was controlling the avatar it kept messing up, and the game with the balls was more guesswork than anything.

I'll withhold judgement until some games are released but TBH it doesn't look very promising.

I think they were spot on as well, I'm just not into the whole motion sensing gimmick.

It can't "kill" the wii becuase there are so many out there, but expect new line of casuals to migrate to the 360. Those that bought the wii and never play it won't buy a new console anytime soon. But yes it was sweet for those party/interactive gaming moments. I still need a controller though, but this out-does the will by a mile.

Will you actually be able to move in FPS games like Halo? I mean, do you just jog in place, then? What if yo want to go faster? Does it accurately measure how fast you are?

Obviously you didn't notice some obvious flaws, like how there is lag with the person and avatar, the avatar twisting out from slight movements, the girl not able to control where she'd hit the balls in the dodgeball like game, and that it will all come at a huge price.

The accurancy definitely depends on the software. The first demo where the guy was controlling his avatar, that was way off, but then w/ the ball demo, it looked pretty accurate, and finally with the scary little boy demo, and the woman moving the water, it was spot on.

I don't see Natal being used for any really interesting games yet. The scary little boy demo (milo was that his name?) kinda illustrates its potential, but the fact remains that every response has to be programmed in. It's interesting what the thing can recognize, but to make it truly immersive would take an incredible amount of work.

Still, it makes you think of the potential it might have with point and click detective games in the vein of heavy rain.

Natal won't give them that huge a boost, as cool as it is.

The problem with it is tha ou need a fair amount of room to use it, something some people simply don't have. And the fact that it's an add on peripheral rather than something tha every 360 owner has means it won't be as popular as the wiimote or sixaxis are.

Reminded me of how bad Sonys Eye toy thing for PS3 failed. This looks alot better, but still very unappealing.

They were certainly not "off", in fact they looked more responsive than the Wii.

The question is, can you play non-casual games using Natal? So far it doesn't look like it.

I can see this technology being a hit with kids right now... but is anyone else (adults) buying into this? Maybe cuz I'm a lawyer and am always skeptical of things... but some of us need to take a step back and reevaluate things... especially since the issue of "hype" is so prevalent in these forums.

Until some decent games come out that are associated with it... or proven software to accomodate this product into existing games... I'm not gonna lunge myself at Microsoft like some of us here have. I've been to dozens of trade shows (CES, E3, etc.) of my life... and amazing things are shown all over the place.

I guess I'm just in wonderment at the whole "who wins" in E3 approach.
