Microsoft: Xbox One is worth $100 more than PlayStation 4

The Xbox One will be $100 more than the PlayStation 4 and $200 more than the Wii U this holiday season, but Microsoft is not stressing over its stance as the most expensive console.

"Its up to us to prove that its worth $100 more. I think it is," senior director of product planning and management at Xbox Albert Penello told GameSpot today at PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington.

Penello said the suite of games and services Microsoft is offering with the Xbox One is stronger than the competition.

"I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think thats better," he added. "I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, thats better. I think well have a better online service."

"I just believe that were going to have a better system."

Ultimately, consumers want to buy the "best thing," Penello said. The Xbox One's stance as the most premium console this holiday season won't hold it back, he argued.

"$100, when youre talking $400 vs. $500 [shrugs shoulders]. I dont believe its going to be the deal-killer," he said.

Seems like perfect fodder for system wars to me. :)

This is one of the thing that really bothers me the most,how in hell you can use the games you will have on the console + ther services which non are free as something that should push people to pay more for that console.?

The PS4 also has games and services and not all are behind a pay wall unlike on xbox one,and is cheaper,in other words you pay $100 more for the xbox one because MS is charging you what they pay developers for exclusive content this is sad you expect all consoles to have exlusive content,igaming Nintendo saying well we have mario so pay of $600 for a wii u.

For some people no, for me personally, I like the added extras. Although I do game primarily I do use my TV for more than just gaming. The Xbox One will be perfect for me.Spartan070

For me is not and is not the $500 dollars i payed $600 for my PS3 but it was worth it,the tech inside it alone more than justify what i spent back then.

I have been a 360 owner since day 1,the 360 was cheap was ultra strong on 2005,on 2013 the xbox one is over priced and weak,it doesn't have that glow the 360 use to have and it shows.

Oh Albert.... I am personally looking forward to launch day (if it doesn't get delayed). There are going to be a lot of people disappointed with the feature set MS claims it is delivering and that comprise this added $100 value. If only people knew the terrible state his system is really in....

PS4 has stronger specs yet remains at lower price for some that is a deal breaker.

Basically what he is telling you is our console is $100 more but we have $60 dollar games and some services which are all lock behind a $60 dollar pay wall so we are better than the $100 cheaper console buy us.

You can buy a PS4 without any games or PSN+ and you can play online free because there are games that are free to play and even cross platform and those are free to play online,DVR recording,apps like netflix all free of pay wall,and $100 cheaper it make the xbox one look even worse.

Which is why I always thought live was a ripoff when I signed up to PS+ I saw the value in it instant game collection, discounts, access to betas and more.

I really don't see any substantial differences between the two consoles, besides the price tags. So that's basically the deciding factor for me right now.

The price difference is enough to pay for 2 years of PS+ which totals 200+ games. MS really are charging more for a lot less.

Not saying you are wrong, but did that logic prevent cows from chosing PS3 (a $600 console with less games and weaker hardware in some aspects) over 360, this gen?
