"Kodu (originally named Boku); an upcoming Xbox Live Community game will allow anyone to build their own personal playground with ease. Ever since it was announced, people have compared it to Sony's big hit LittleBigPlanet. They both are platformers and seem to have similar characteristics but the question is; will Kodu be Microsoft's answer to LittleBigPlanet?"

How many times must we do this?

It is not a game.

It is a PL for making games.

It is based on a research project aimed at young children.

It has been in development since before LBP was announced.

You've pretty much missed the entire point of the software. You create your own games with it. It's lbp taken to a whole new level.

Also, this was in development well over a year before lbp was even announced. There were articles posted a long time ago when this was named boku.

Lol you had to say that twice. Sadly, saying it twice still wouldn't get it into their minds that this is NOT a LBP clone.

OMG BORING. Honestly, I almost fell asleep just watching that...and I didn't even know what the hell she was doing half of the time. Looks pretty damn complicated to open and close a pathetic blob-like factory.

LBP FTW

Anyways, I just watched that video... Looked incredibly boring, and I don't see how anyone could name it as MS's answer to LBP. This wont do crap to LBP.

This is getting ridiculous, all Sony and Microsoft do is copy eachother. I can't see this as healthy competition. Just 2 greedy companys going at it. Bringing nothing new to the table.

I wonder how many people realise games like this dont sell well because the average gamer doesn't have the patience to sit down with these games and realy get to grips with the actual mechanics let alone be creative, LBP is case and point. occasionaly there is a small diamond that filters through but the rest is a whole mess of coal.

not to mention that LBP was created by ex-lionhead devs.... so if we want to start with conspiracy theories here :P

LBP has the sackboys. It also has personality, charm, and an entire game to play with a level creator as a bonus. It has fun costumes to wear. This is nothing like LBP.

i get the feeling that little fact is going to get ignored around here and be flooded by the classic "microsoft is stealing from sony" threads. all microsoft did was pick a very weird time to finally bring the game back into the light.

Sony funded LBP and helped to be what it is right now. Otherwise it would been just another shovelware mini game title on the PSN Store that nobody would of cared about. And Kodu, originally a program language. Now Microsoft are hyping it to be the next big level creator for casuals. Lets be honest, if LBP wasn't popular or never existed Microsoft wouldn't be touching Kodu, we probably never would of heard about it.

Well it would be kinda hard to sell this, because IIRC this will be free.

EDIT

lol whats up with naming it after fake japanese words:

boku = me (masculine)

You know there are more languages in the worlds besides English and Japanese. Kodu is also a word in Estonian, meaning home.
