FF13 on xbox 360 sold nearly 3 times as much as FF15 sold on Xbox one.

Microsoft must have numbers guys and these numbers look pitiful this isn't just japanese games though. A lot of western games have also tooken sales dives over last gen

Last gen I bought ff13 on xbox 360, this gen i bought ff15 on ps4 and theres a lot more people like me out there that microsoft must know about.

Last gen 360 sold over a million units in japan this gen were lucky to see 15-20 units a month in japan.

There is a humongous issue with japan and the xbox one that wasn't even comparable to the 360 which did way better over there.

Phil Spencer's trip to japan was all just fluff and show it didn't really do anything or mean anything it was like taking a golf trip to japan and just going on vacation it doesn't really mean anything.

So basically you have thrown out a bunch a comparisons between 360 and X1, and claim they mean Spencer's trip to Japan, not even 2 months old, is bullshit. You're a real Dark Knight detective.

Don't worry Scorpio is like a Godzilla and will submit japanese people into submission. After Scorpio Japan will seize to exist as the millennial and proud culture it currently is and will become M$ lapdog. This is what lems have told me will happen so I believe them.

@ProtossRushX: XBox 360 has more consoles in gamers home when FF XIII launched for one. Also FF XV looks and plays better on the PS4. So most gamers would obviously get that version. I never buy FF games on anything by PS or GameBoy/3DS. Still have the original games on NES and SNES however. Most JRPG I will get on a Japan game console. Even though last gen I did get Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, Lost Oysssey, etc.. on the XBox 360. It's pretty obvious the JRPG are going to sell more on PS4 this gen. Still many of the exclusives on XB1 and PS4 have sold pretty poorly as of late. Games like Nier, The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Recore, Quantum Break, Halo Wars 2, etc.. have all sold below 2 million. Only games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, Halo 5 are going to sell 5 million or more.

Nier has sold above 1 million in ONE month. For a niche franchise thats actually pretty good and its considered a success by SE

http://twinfinite.net/2017/04/nier-automata-has-sold-over-1-million-units/

The Last Guardian was hyped by the gaming community but Team ICO games never found mainstream success. They're not for everyone

@ProtossRushX: where are you getting theses numbers from?? Is that physical copies, digital copies, both. Is it VGChartz, speculation(which VGcharzts is). Why do care? Why does it matter? At what point is a game considered successful? Cause it makes it money back or then some sells a Million copies. Video games are a totally different medium than movies and music anyone can buy movies and music but there are only 50 million customers that can buy a game on PS4. So is selling a Million really that big a deal when there are 49 Million other potential customers that have zero interest in your game.

Quit thinking weeaboo shit matters

Let's get out of this very small, very very small SW world for a minute and look into the real world. There are many "American" products that aren't even sold in many areas and many doesn't do well in many areas but when you actually look at the entirety of the product brand, they are still doing fine despite not performing at these areas. It's not secret that Xbox gaming is not even a factor over there but there are so many other brands that doesn't do well there, I'm guessing brands like Ford, Chevy, etc. and there was a time when the Apple brand weren't doing great there. If it's not made from there, they're considered "foreign brands" and there are so many "foreign brands" that just doesn't do well at every other area. Don't take my word for it, good do some research on it.

In Japan, all consoles are selling less in 2017 than they did in 2007. And even back in 2007, all consoles were selling less than they did in 1997. The Japanese console market has declined, so it shouldn't be any surprise that the Xbox is declining there too. But in the X1's case, the decline is more severe, since its predecessors weren't so hot there to begin with.

Like I said, there was a time Apple weren't doing well there. Matter of fact there's still a lot of hate for the brand there. For every one "foreign brand" that does well, there's at least twice as many that doesn't do well just because they're "foreign brands". I mean if you're in the US and someone offers you an electronic and it's made from who knows where and you can't even pronounce the brand of the device, even if that device does great things you'll probably still pass it up because it's foreign. Name a couple more American made product that does well there? Consumerism is an odd thing.

Proof? I think the xbox got a bad rep there because the 360 was a piece of crap that kept breaking 60% of the time. Japanese people are used to more higher quality products.

When a foreign brand isn't doing well, it's often because the foreign products are either inferior to the domestic products, or just aren't as appealing to the domestic market. Let's look at the examples you mentioned:

When it comes to automobiles, American autos generally just can't match the quality of Japanese autos, hence why Japanese autos dominate American autos not only in Japan, but worldwide as well.

When it comes to mobile phones, Apple was initially struggling in Japan because it was inferior to Japanese phones in a number of key areas, such as emojis, selfie camera capabilities, and domestic apps. It was only after Apple upped their game, rivaling Japanese phones in things like emojis, selfie camera capabilities, and domestic apps, it started beating Japanese phones in their own backyard.

If you want to win over a market, you need to sell goods that appeal to the market. Xbox simply doesn't have what it takes to appeal to the Japanese market, hence its failure to pull an Apple and make it big in Japan. In the past, Microsoft did have a very successful gaming platform in Japan, the MSX. But it seems Xbox has learnt nothing from the MSX's Japanese success.

You have an odd way of thinking. Odd... Not interesting... Just really odd. That, and confirmation bias.

Microsoft should never give money to a Japanese dev's again. They used the money for Scalebound to create games for Playstation. 4 years and game never got made.

So M$ finally invested on good games then. That is better than investing in mediocre flops like they usually do.
