Try not to use a second controller though, may not work otherwise. If it comes with Built in Psycho Mantis I'm sold.

umm. cool idea. question if it really works... They claim the video is video with no special effected added but we see...k2theswiss
It's a some what cool idea. But I'm doubting the authenticity of it. Unless it is using kinect 2.0, the Kinect woudl not eb able to read the part of the room behind the television.
It's a projector you attach to the ceiling...nice and effective PR though. Should fool masses into thinking a Kinect alone did that. For those of you not fooled, congrats because that means I'm not talking about you.
Of course, it's a decent concept (although I'm do sincerely wonder if this could be distracting, the jury is out), but having set up my livingroom 7.1 Surround Sound and Plasma setup. My family room 5.1 and LED setup, multiple friends livingrooms, my PC 5.1 room...I know what it would take to accomplish this, and this concept is not what we currently have available to us in the form of Software/hardware peripherals.
As far as concepts go, it's interesting, but a long ways off and probably won't happen. This concept isn't new to gamers, Sony unveiled something similar a few years back. Sony Holodeck w/eyetoy PR concept.
It's not for me, but those of you that are excited, I linked it above.
This news was already revealed at Gamespot.com btw, seemingly hours ago.
No thanks. It's a projector you attach to the ceiling...nice and effective PR though.

I think it would distract me a lot, but I still like where it is going.
I kinda see this as something similar as 3D screens.
Not yet very practical, but in time a building block to something really cool.
Amazing concept and an increase in immersion if properly implemented....in B4 gimmicky...rumble might have been considered gimmicky at one time but gamers rightly forced sony's hand on their attempt to remove it...Bring on next gen and fvck all of you counter revolutionaries
If it worked, it would be cool. However something tells me this is just another deceiving footage just like the Kinect anouncement trailer
Microsoft already made it possible for me to game without using a controller and now my room is going to be a game level... hell fvcking yes.
Praise Microsoft!
Unless there's some trickery going on, it cannot work the way that video shows.
Assuming the TV screen is 1080p, the projector (which is stupid by the way - who's going to purchase a projectore that shines on a TV just for this cr@p?) appears to be rendering the game at 4x resoltuion or so.
A console is NOT going to render a 4k game. Sorry. Not even next gen.
Thinking about this it might not be rendering a 4K image so much as just stretching the 720p signal across the entire wall instead. Still not likely to be performance friendly.

It's weird because in some frames it looks like they are projecting the entire game on the wall. But in others it looks like one colored, really crude projections. I'm guessing the latter is what it does primarily.Like Kinect, this tech looks like it could be cool... several iterations after the initial design.
Call me when there's real 3D gaming. I'm not interested in having a projector image around my TV, just like how most of us won't be interested in Kinect until it has true 1:1.
[QUOTE="spiderluck"][QUOTE="Cuddlechu"]Pathetic and hardly innovative. Nintendo did AR first. Then $ony copied with the Vita. Now Microsoft comes how late?CuddlechuWTF are you mumbling about Illumi is not innovative in anyway. Saying this is innovative is like saying Kinect and Move were not copies of the Wiimote.
DO you even know what you are saying?
1: do you even know what innovate means? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/innovate
2: made it easy for you^
3: illumi is invention that expands whats on t.vs on walls by allowing devs to add special effects... WHO has done that yet?
I would like to try it out, it looks cool, but I think overall it would just be a major distraction. Pretty much like stereo 3d gaming.
It's cool, but doesn't it say in the owner's manual to play in a well-lit room? :Pblabbyboy
Good point !
Ewww imaging your whole room RROD'ing. No thanks.kuraimen
This made my day !!! :D
Almost right on que, here comes the paid Microsoft shill posterAmazing concept and an increase in immersion if properly implemented....in B4 gimmicky...rumble might have been considered gimmicky at one time but gamers rightly forced sony's hand on their attempt to remove it...Bring on next gen and fvck all of you counter revolutionaries
