BATTLETOADS releases on the 20th. The original was a NES classic but I'm not sure about this one.
What kind of reviews do you think we'll see?

I don’t know if I’d exactly call it a NES classic myself. Anyway I don’t particularly care for the art style nor does the gameplay look all that great either. I’m expecting a very middling 6 on this game.
@louixiii: Battletoads Arcade version was the true king of Battletoads, it can be play on Rare Replay if you want to try it out. NES not so much. I didn't like how they change the Dark Queen into Kim Possible art style wannabe Dr Draken's daughter (anyone who watches the cartoon series will know what I'm talking about) and not keeping the tradition to the whole game is insulting. Buuuut, since this is coming to GP, I'll at least try it on on PC.
What have I got to lose while playing it through GP right?
@Star67: That's how I feel. It's not as fast paced and it takes way too long to kill an enemy. Plus I think they made them too big. The characters in the original were smaller. Some of the transformations are a little too over the top like the robot head with the eye beams that was spammed to death in the video. It's like the guys that're developing it didn't go back and play the original before making it. It's too Final Fightish if you know what I mean.
I got Game Pass so no harm trying it. Never played original. Looks like a cartoon though. But I think a classic arcade brawler should stick to a more traditional pixel art design style, but in a hyper aesthetic that wouldn't have been achieved years back.
Regardless on whether it is good or not, I expect this game to get shit on though simply because of it's association with Xbox.
@louixiii: No not really. Which Turtles game are you talking about? If you’re talking about the first one done by Ultra then yeah that wasn’t a good game either. However if you’re talking about The Arcade Game version that came out after then no it wasn’t. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game on the NES is a much better game the Battletoads on the NES in every aspect.

The arcade version was great but I enjoyed the NES version too. I have Rare Replay btw. Haven't played it in a while though. I think I'm going to wait for reviews on this one. If a game is mediocre, I don't touch it. 7s or better for me.
@Archangel3371: That's the one. That game was so punishing. I pushed through it but man it was such a chore. The arcade game has better because it was modeled after the actual arcade game. That was fun but Battletoads has platforming elements I liked plus the level with the plane and the hover ships were fun too. To each is own I guess. I just wish they had released a sequel before the band broke up. The old RARE crew was the best! I played the new KI (despite rumors, I do own an Xbox One) but it was nothing like the feeling of playing the first 2 games. And we'll probably never get another good Banjo game either (another franchise I loved) :(
Anyway, I don't see the new Battletoads doing well. I looks too much like Final Fight and Streets of Rage instead of BT

You know, I thought this new Battletoads was going to cost around $40/$50 but it looks like it'll be only $20. Kinda surprising to say the least. Battletoads $20 digital
I'd be surprised if it gets above 6/10 score. I'm not even expecting much out of this game.

We're in the age of Corona so I'm not throwing $20 away if I know it's crap. That $20 belongs to Bonchon if this game sucks xD
why do you do all CAPS in all your subjects?
Simple. Because I want to and I'm not hurting anyone here. You're the only one complaining. Is it that serious bro?
seen other people complain in your thread before this so I am not the only one complaining.
And it comes down to decorum, all caps is the equivalent to yelling.. but you do you
edit: and the person who posted just before you did asked why you do it too

I'm not physically yelling at you am I? My gosh...when did the gaming community become so sensitive? Like really..of all the thing to complain about, you worry about a subject heading? Get a life dude
@louixiii: I felt a little worried with Streets of Rage 4, but that turned out awesome! I'm hoping this feels better when you actually play it, but where SOR4 from trailers at least looked like Streets of Rage, this new battle toads doesn't look like battle toads at all, more like a generic beat em up, I wish it had more of a BattleToads Arcade feel
@louixiii: Well right off the bat the characters just never really clicked with me. They just seemed to be trying a bit too hard to be a “cooler” version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The gameplay felt a bit too stiff and there were some pretty cheap aspects in the difficulty. Didn’t really care for the platforming and hover bike sections either to be honest. For me the biggest thing is probably the characters. If I don’t connect with the characters and the game world then the game just won’t hold my interest. I found the heroes, villains, and world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be very interesting and entertaining. The Battletoads, not so much.
I played the Killer Instinct games back in the day and really enjoyed them but I find the new one to be even better. Would love to see a straight up old school Banjo game but thought that Nuts & Bolts was pretty good in its own right.
@louixiii: Typing in all caps has been a no-no of Internet etiquette for well, AGES. It’s not a “gamers being sensitive” thing.
Unlike Sony, Microsoft doesn’t fabricate or pay for reviews so I’m thinking this won’t get their 8-10, probably a 6.
Proof? Otherwise its just more of your delusional bs tizzy (as usual).
Last I checked The Tomorrow Children and The Order didn't get good reviews.

Just google sony fake reviews - there’s thousands of examples compiled over the decades.

Dude...this is pathetic. You just sent me 5 links about the same exact thing and to make things worse, it has NOTHING TO DO ABOUT VIDEO GAMES...and to top things off, this is something that happened back in 2002
You had to dig deep didn't you?
I'm in stitches lol
Show me proof that they paid for a single video game review. Please do... Until then, I appreciate the laugh bro. You are HILARIOUS!
@louixiii: I also told you to google it - there’s too many to list and there’s plenty of gaming related stories as well. The latest is when sony allowed LoU2 user scores as fact when the game hadn’t even launched yet lol.
And not 1 about Sony being proven to have paid for game reviews exist. Thanks again dude. I get an A for the effort bud.
P.S. I haven't laughed that hard in months. Thanks again man
