In no particular order, the ten best first-party games from Microsoft this generation:
1) Halo Reach
2) Halo 3: ODST
3) Halo 3
4) Gears of War
5) Gears of War 2
6) Gears of War 3
7) Forza Motorsport 2
8) Forza Motorsport 3
9) Forza Motorsport 4
10) Alan Wake
Ninja-Hippo
Get ready for Alan Wake to get bumped off that list for 343's first solo and original game, "Halo 4" coming this year of 2012.
Shout out to "Halo HD Anniversary" and "Halo Wars".
I think next year we may see a "Halo 2 HD" to tide us over until "Halo 5/Halo 4:ODST2", etc.

EDIT :
I wrote this bottom piece about 250 posts into this thread as I saw the discussions breaking down into some strange avenues.
So, I'll just post it here.

We gamers should care about games. That's what we play, that's what we log onto a site called "Gamespot.com". ;)
M$ really has been doing what I would describe as "crap" lately (Late 2008-2012 Present) in delivering less games to gamers (especially in the retail category, you know where over 50% of the market has access to the games). While it's fine to look at statements and say "That company is a business making profits, Hurray" that isn't why we play games. Presumably the vast majority of us are gamers and care about the games. As a gamer, it's a bummer for gamers and especially multiplatform gamers. Bottomline, the corporation has needed to step their game UP for years (speaking as a gamer), and Corporate apologists need to recognize they are doing themSELVES a great disservice by running around apologising and minimizing the lack of games being created by the console manufacturer.
It would be incredible if they go back to what they were back in 2005-2007, behind the scenes many of you young ones don't understand that the passionate and creative minds and founders of the Xbox have left the brand. At this point, it's non-creative suits that have been keeping things afloat. Many of you don't realize it, as ignorance is bliss, but we are all getting less games created in lieu of "Timed Exclusives" and "Timed DLC". These are games, mind you, that are created by 3rd parties and were going to exist anyways. They were going to come to the Xbox platform anyways. Millions of dollars that could go to the creation and funding of new games/IPs that are instead going to multiplatform companies like ACTIVISION, Bethesda, Capcom, etc for timed DLC. It's atrocious. We get a new User Interface seemingly annually, and they add apps for us GOLD players. This has been what we have been getting for the last 3-4 years, less games, more apps/timed DLC on hot games. That's pathetic, and as a gamer and Xbox 360 owner I'm not going to rationalize it. Sorry. (For the record, I have owned two 360's since 360 launch, I spent nearly $2000 on games, accessories, and the machines at launch).
Honestly, there is some strange damage controlling going on in this thread using the oddest metrics to try and win an argument...but at the end of the day, we LOSE. Stop it, speak up, and hopefully we will see a change!
