Not sure if good or bad. Good that it did so well but could be a sign of Nintendo pushing more of their resources to Mobiles.

Nintendo’s Miitomo app has been a huge success in Japan. After launching the app on March 17, it rose to the top of the download charts, eventually reaching 1 million users (not just downloads, but actual users).

Miitomo is a social app that allows users to create Miis and interact each other, using the new My Nintendo account setup. Players can also earn points in various ways in the game. Here’s a breakdown of how you can earn points.

And of course, there are paid add-ons as well, as most apps have these days.

Nintendo plans to launch Miitomo in the rest of the world by the end of this month

What you guys think?

I wouldnt fear Nintendo pushing efforts toward mobile, they have a whole company DeNa, who are the largest mobile developer in the world working on it. If you have played these games, there actually pretty awesome. Its like advertising for Nintendo, they do themes for new released games and have all types of events. Badge Arcade has been advertising for Twilight Princess all week. It offers short little teases and sweet swag about the game.

I havnt spent a dime on Badge Arcade and ive been playing and collecting on it for over 2 months. Sure if you play it for free, you dont get to play it long everyday, but thats how the game is designed, even if you drop $5 on the game, it still goes away quickly and you have to wait for tomorrow to play collect badges again.

Mobile games are in need of some regulation and a company who they can depend on. Mobile users are numbered by the millions, so Nintendo has a big pool of people to advertise to via apps and mobile games. This will help Nintendo sell more toys, Amiibo, cards, TV shows, clothes, movies, etc.

Not only that, but it also will bring others to the main games who look for more fun experience from such great franchises. Take the Pokemon Go app for instance. Release a charming fun app for millions to enjoy, advertise other Pokemon events etc through it, and youll be rewarded by more fans who will be looking to consume other formats. Its all about brand recognition

Looking forward to it, it seems to be a sensible first app for a smartphone.

Miitomo is fine. I haven't played it myself, but it doesn't seem demanding and entirely micro transaction driven. It's just Tomodachi Life on your phone, plus it being a unique/quirky social app should make it very successful like Tomodachi Life in the West.

I'm not sure the app will do as well here in the West, but we'll see. I may check it out.

What you guys think?

If the NX flops Nintendo is going 100% mobile. It is inevitable.

Don't care for it, only worries..this one is free?...will wait for their paying ones..if their paying do as well as this..then I see Ninti move to mobile only route IF NX fails....& when Nintendo goes *only* mobile..then its my time to say goodbye to them. :P

Might suck for hardcore Nintendo enthusiasts, but it just makes business sense if the NX doesn't meet Nintendo's expectations in terms of sales.
