Cant post pics, but I was just looking through Red Dead Redemption screens, and was blown away. The game looks amazing. If they can pull this off with the rage engine, why the hell does GTA4 look so damn ugly?!?! The game looks downright abysmal in the graphic department. I know graphics arent everything, but GTA4's graphics were so bad it actually took away from the enjoyment of the game. They are just downright awful. All I know is GTA5 had damn well better have Red Dead Redemption's graphics, or im not touching it.

Here's a hint, buddy. Any screenshots released before the game hits retail are promotional screens. They are not to be trusted. I'll bet you that when this game comes out you'll be as disappointed as you were with GTA IV.
I feel sad for TC, to be a person who only looks for graphics in a game, i shed a tear for you TC :|
Anyway, i don't like sandbox games, the only one i've enjoyed so far has been Saint's Row 2, but this Wild West concept is really interesting, definitely looks good, can't wait for it, i have to admit, this game is the only sandbox i hyped in my entire life.

You have me pegged wrong, I think GTA IV looks great. Reach looks good too. I just tend towards the realism camp that says that games don't look as good as their promo screens. However, Metro 2033 is gonna look massively awesome. YOU SHOULD BAI THAT! KK. Win.
Wow you know I thought GTA IV had awesome graphics, especially for an open world game. It did get a little choppy sometimes but overall it looked great, and the physics too were great.
GTA has more impressive graphics than most games this gen...considering the size and scope of the game I would put it higher than most exclusive titles. But that kind of stuff never counts, as long as game has tiny linear corridor maps then it will be graphics king.
Protip: developers usually pick a area between graphics and scale because consoles can't always handle both out the sametime without starting a fire in your living room. Of course both naturally become greater over time due to technology and optimization, but this is how it works.
"Scale ---------------- Visuals" All the way on the left being the most scale a given engine can handle and all the way on the right being the best visuals a given engine can produce

With that said, GTA IV still looks amazing for the scale it has.
I agree that Red Dead Redemption looks great, but to say GTA IV looks bad is quite a stretch, maybe you played the PS3 version since that wasn't in HD and had no AA support.
crazy...alien trilogy is when fps were still using sprites 1995 or 96 lol...alien resurrection is from 2000 is 3d end of ps1 life pretty much and ps1 dualshock controller had been released so that had to of supported it reason it has a freelook.
GTA 4= 2008 Game Red Dead Redemption= 2010 Game GTA 4 has one larger open world with alot more going on(it's a freakin CITY) To RDR having large open environments, where there is definantly some open field but with not much going on. Two different types of sandbox environments. A City is going to be very taxing to pull off, compared to an old western setting. RDR does look more fun though.
GTA IV graphics are damn impressive, when I first flew with a helicopter over liberty city at night I was in awe. That being said the gameplay was great but had far too little side-mission or stuff to do next to the story missions compared to San Andreas or even Vice city, if that's the same case with RDR I doubt I'm going to buy it. I'm not going to buy it just for the perty graphics.
I think GTA 4 looks really good, especially on PC :| The amount of details is incredible for a sandbox game. Every little corner is filled with details, the pedestrian animations are superb.
Wow, you guys are hard to read. I hear all kinds of good looking games getting ripped for their graphics on this forum, but say something about GTA4's graphics & you act like someone called your mommy ugly
GTA is not a beautiful game....at all. Charatcter models are horrible so I don't really know what you're looking at, The TC has a point about RDR looking waaaaay better. I guess they've got the engine running at peak performance now
