Mirror's Edge Catalyst - No Hype?

Okay, i get it.

Console Mirror's Edge port was bad, downgraded graphics and gameplay but PC gamers loved this game, "very positiive" rated game by people since PC versioon had more features than console port, better gameplay and graphic.

Now Mirror's Edge Catalyst is coming out soon and for some reason i don't see console gamers intered in this game. Is this because console versioon has worse gameplay and grahpics?

Yeah Mirror's Edge Catalyst is right now origin exclusive on PC but sooner or later it will come on steam anyway.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst visual looks amazing. Yeah, graphics will be PC exclusive since we all saw that console port has no shadows or lighting.

I heard this game doesn't have the doodoo berry shooting parts anymore.

Each time my character picked up a gun in the first game the game went from some of the most fun ever in a video game to feeling like torture. I'd rather the game had been half as long than have half of it be shooting. All I wanted to do was jump around and solve puzzles.

It looks like it would get boring fast to me.

First-person melee combat sucks ass. They will have to prove me to get me interested. Not big on platforming either, especially in first person.

The hell are you talking about? No EA games come to Steam, this has been a thing since the Crysis 2 release in 2011...

This game will only ever be on Origin.

It's not just this forum. I honestly do not think many people care about it period. Expect poor sales unless it gets some spectacular reviews.

Well I see people like the gameplay and are interested in it, just that here there wont be massive amounts of hype for reasons I mentioned. I agree with you though on first person melee combat. Shit blows

Well 99% upcoming games are not even open world games and has worse graphic. There are no other first person open world game than Mirrors Edge Catalyst. If this is mediocre, then all games are mediocre.

I got stuck on the 4th mission in the first game and traded it in.

Sorry, but the controls are terrible in first person. I was praying they would switch to 3rd person so it would be playable. Nope.

So I am not going to buy it until it hits the bargain bins.

@FreedomFreeLife: I actually loved the 360 Mirror's Edge. It was a fun game at its time but it got boring fast. Run here, jump this, elevator, sometimes chase, shoot this guy with a gun, then drop. Rinse and repeat. I did love the platforming here but god damn was there hardly any creativity with the level design. Faith's left palm must've been red after all those elevator buttons she pressed.

Best not to hype games to the moon and back, because when you do the games you're hyping tends not to live up to one's high expectations even when it turns out to be good, but doesn't blow you away.

The game looks really good.

This and the new Need For Speed restored some faith in EA, because for a while it looked like I was never going to purchase another EA product. I'll most likely buy this, but I want to replay the original Mirror's Edge first.

I was wondering about that too. That's like QB coming to Steam, highly doubtful.

There's no shooting parts. But it looks like they replaced it with what looks like even worse and drawn out hand to hand combat parts.

Open world and skill tree leaves me very worried about the integrity of the level design. That and they seem to want to focus on the damn story in the trailers when none of us care about it.

Then you clearly played console version since PC version had no problem with control. This is why most console games has auto-aim always on. This new game is open world so you can go different way, online missions, side missions. In here you can use 4 different cambo and style at once but in older game you could not. Clearly first game had limitation because consoles were too weak to show or do things .

never bought the first and had 0 excitement for seeing the game's "gameplay" it first showed, this looks more of the same.

Why should I be hyped for a running simulator?

I'll wait for a sale on this one. Got way too many games releasing this May, Uncharted 4, Overwatch, Doom, Total War: warhammer, and Battleborn. Mirror's Edge: Catalyst is gonna get overshadow and under the radar.

I still need to play the first, but I'm not that hyped for it and there hasnt been a lot of noise around it. I dont even know when it comes out...0000

It's more like Grand Theft auto but on rooftops and without guns and story. You should know that tutorial is always tight and shows how cambo and stuff like that works.

There was an achievement for going through the entire first game without shooting a gun. You could very literally beat it without using a gun once. The "puzzle" was trying to figure out how to beat all the dudes senseless without using firearms.

As for the OP, no, I am not hyped, because this is an EA game in the era of Battlefront.

I don't doubt it. I'm pretty certain I made an attempt at it during my first play through the game, but those shooting sections were such a disruption to the flow of the game, and so miserable overall that the desire to actually try and figure out how to accomplish beating the game without guns was just not there.

Haha yeah, that's the vibe I get from this game.

I'm interested in it enough to play it once it becomes available on EA Access. By the looks of things, that might be sooner, rather than later.

2. There haven't been a lot of previews or footage for the game, the game is coming out next month, but we just now got a string of previews.

3. Upgrade system and open world by EA

Mirrors edge. It always looked nice in screenshots but nothing about that game ever made me want to play it, even the 'kind of' positive reviews.

What is it even? It seems to be the gaming equivalent of the Wii U i.e. what is the f***ing point of it?

I never 'got' what this game is supposed to be or trying to be. I'm probably missing out, I'll just have to live with it.

I've been waiting for a sequel since 2008, so I'm hyped. I think it's going to sell the same amount though, it looks like a niche game still.

Well Quantum Break isn't an exclusive either and look what happened there.

This... I loved the first game, but I refuse to support with cash money, any game that has Anita Sarkesian on the pay roll.. Until they stop catering to people who petition the UN to censor games and people (because, god forbid someone criticizes the insane radical leftist ideology).

Definitely hyped for this game. The first game is one of my favorite games of all time because it felt like a classic sonic game if you were slowing down to melee or shoot enemies then yeah I can see the game being awful but that was never the ideal route to go. Even in this new game, sure you can beat bad guys up but you'll get punished for it. Close quarters combat is specifically made to be slow and awkward to deter you from using it. This game is all about going as fast as you can.

I'm super excited! I really liked the setting and style of the first game. More of that is exactly what I'm looking for.
