Mirror's Edge Catalyst XB1 running 720P

Like i said, consoles are too weak to run this powerful and best graphic game of 2016.

According to xjumper, who also posts on Neogaf, it looks like the game might be running at 720P on Xbox One while the frame rate is “unlocked 60FPS“. This makes sense, since Frostbite powered games like Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront all ran at 1280×720 and unlocked 60FPS on Microsoft’s console, while PlayStation 4 enjoyed a higher resolution (900P or 1600×900).

Frostbite, so yeah. Battlefront, Battlefield Hardline, and Battlefield 4 were also all 720p on Xbox One, if I am not wrong.

That said, this is only the beta, so maybe that changes as we get closer to the final release.

Have on Steam and never touched it bc I heard it was aggravating parkour in many places.

I wouldn't say this is a sign the consoles are too weak, moreso that the Frostbite Engine isn't well optimized for Xbox One... and even that being said, their games look pretty good be it Star Wars Battlefront or the Battlefield games... well, decent at least.

In all seriousness, though, running at 720p isn't really a travesty, but it does point to a lack of balance between game development and console hardware. With modern gaming's emphasis on multiplatform gaming, it just turns out it's more economical to develop a full-featured PC version and to port it to consoles, I suppose. I'd rather have smooth framerates than higher resolutions, though, if I have to choose.

Ain't shit changing as far as resolution. There have been enough Frostbite games betas to say this with some certainly. 60fps on Frostbite means 720p for Xflop. Not that 900p is great. Can't wait for Neo.

Is there a reason you say so? I'm interested in Mirror's Edge, myself, but I figure it'll probably be easier to get into the new one than the original, considering the less refined things I've heard about its design.

Well, Mirror's Edge Catalyst is being deliberately marketed for a change. It's lack of strong marketing push that's shot games like Mirror's Edge in the foot in the past. I think it'll do well enough for a Mirror's Edge 3 to happen, which is the most I can really ask for of a relatively fresh IP. Gaming loves its familiar done-to-death franchises these days...

I didn't know they were going to get something higher than 30, the original on PS3 vs PC had a world of difference when the frame rate was doubled. So color me excited, even if it's an unlocked frame rate, if this means an emphasis on better feeling gameplay.

You should consider that Xbone is a weaker console than PS4. Frostbite engine works pretty well on consoles ( Dragon Age, PvsZ 2, SW Battlefront ).

Am I the only one who doesn't care about resolution? I would prefer 1080p of course but I'm not going to cry or be upset that it isn't as long as it performs well. ( no glitches, crashes, bugs.)

This stuff was kinda fun at the start of this gen but it's been beaten to death now and really old and stale. Even at 720 those pics look pretty damn good on the Xone, and while the PC version can mop the floor with it, most people's PCs can't. I always enjoy how pc neckbeards talk like every pc on the planet is some $2k gaming beast when in reality most can't play games on ultra or high settings.

So why RTS games are not on consoles "exact same game = same gameplay" by your logic. Its first person game. You can't do many skills or tick with 360 degree meanwhile with PC you can. Console version you can look only right or left but with PC there is 360 view not "I MUST PRESS <<<< TO LOOK <<<<" in console version.

Hmmm. Anyway, I made a tiny prediction about this game for myself (I won't tell because I don't want to jinx it), and I think that this game will play a huge role for a certain thing that will also come out this year.

The difference between the two resolutions is marginal and depending on the distance from the the TV and size of the TV indiscernible. Secondly if a game is 30FPS on a console no amount of bitching is going to change anything. If 60FPS is so important to you as a gamer then you should not be gaming on a consoles.

I have enjoyed my PS4 so far from launch so I don't agree with it being shit. Looking forward to the Neo upgrade though.
