Mirrors Edge Demo Impressions

So i downloaded the demo today and OMG this game.......is one of the best games i have played this gen!

it is such a unique experience you will not find anywhere else! the visuals look so clean and smooth and awesome! the character models are very realistic this is one of the best looking games no doubt.

the gameplay was simply awesome running around doing all sorts of acrobatics, the fighting combos you can pull of are sick! run up a wall jump off and kick an enemey, disarm them, whatever!

i am definitely picking this up on day one! the demo has me sold.

i didnt see the whole 'motion sickeness' side of things though....i dont know maybe im just not prone to these things, no game has got me sick ever lol

Dice made my favourite game of last gen, Rallisport challenge 2, so It's only natural this delivers 8)

I only wish I didn't have about 5 more games to buy this year, but I'll get this one.

I loved this demo. I wasn't very interested in Mirrors Edge, but after playing the demo, i'm sold!

It's not a first day buy for me because quite honestly, there's just too many games i want that are coming out in the next weeks, but i'm certainly getting this in the coming months.

Here's some ammo for the fanboys, the 360 version is a bit better. Less screan tearing, some better textures here and there

I've just finished playing the 360 version don't worry it has just as much screen tearing and the textures are the same :P

my imppressions of the ps3 version was *a good interesting game pretty graphics, quite a few jaggies going on in the distance and that but i understand it was an early version*

i'll make sure once i get home after work, i'll download the demo...

question:- will ME have any sort of online modes ????

I had so high hopes for the game, now it's going straight to the bargain bin.

They promised you'd be able to take several routes. There's only one route with another angle. Even the fighting is horrible. I may still pick it up, though, since the sequences where you jump in slowmotion is pretty awesome. It was wrong of me to expect anything else from EA.

After trying the demo I'm not so sure about this game, it's good for people who like this sort of thing, but I found the whole thing rather repetitive, one trick pony so to speak. Looks ok, but how long can you run and jump between buildings before you've had enough?.

I kept getting a Tomb Raider vibe, but Tomb Raider felt more enjoyable, this is like a tech demo, and looks like one, very bare graphics.

But I'm sure it's a good game for those interested.

Remember a demo isnt an indication of the level design consistancy (the different routes and whatnot).

The demo is the one they have been showing off at E3 and a tutorial.

It clearly is the beginner level which only has one route to go, it seems. Though i was trying to jump over the fence that came after your first walk on a pipe between two buildings.

After the 4 guard scene that start to chase you up the stairs there are boxes pilled up and if you got to the left instead of the right you can climb them and from there i tried to jump on to the vent but it didn't seem to work.

There is a time-trial level, but you have to receive a pre-order code to unlock. I haven't gotten mine yet, but i guess that level should have atleast more then one way to go.

First time those guys chased me I went left instead of right and got stuck, second time i tried fighting the guys and got my ass totally kicked

Depends what you mean by one trick pony, most if not all games are repetitive and mirrors edge is no different then they are, it just tries something different with a genre that people who like to blow stuff up probably won't enjoy much.

Its like playing portal without the humor and portal gun, you have an environment, maybe some enemies and you have to navigate it like a puzzle adventure game.

best looking racer last gen by far, classic game

to be honost i didn't look real hard :P i believe there are a few small differences as to how you can get to a certain point but i wouldn't call them alternate paths...ninjaxams

i'm thinking there might be an alternative when you come out the building and run to the helicopter, not sure though

By that i mean't that the looks to be focused souly on acrobatics and nothing else or everything else isn't worth giving credit too. Plenty of others games do more than one thing and do most if not all of them well. A game like Saints Row 2, probably the most well rounded games I've played this year in terms of gameplay.

I'd have to wait for the final release for a more judge decision as a whole but from the demo it very much focused on the acrobatics and freerunning aspect of the game. The enemies were there but you kinda only want to bother with them to experience disarming a live enemy or trying out the ranged combat with guns.

It leans probably by a design decision towards avoiding enemies and doing the acrobatics an freerunning.

There will be a PC version. Not sure about the multi-player. I think you're just going to be able to share time-trial ghosts..

I just found a bad graphic detail. The windows don't reflect the surrounding at all.

Just atthe beginning when you jump from one building to the other . If you stop right after the jump and turn to watch the windows. You will notice it does have an image of the city, but it ain't a reflection. Just a texture.

Okay, after playing it through again, it's actually addicting. Especially if you click RB(I don't know what button it is on the PS3) while jumping, so you turn around and fall down. Do that while jumping off a building, and you'll wave your arms as you fall to your death. I take back what i said earlier, it's a huge improvement considering it's EA.stappy

personally i feel the PS3 controller will work better for the game, it just feels extremely natural
