MKX officially cancel for Xbox 360/PS3

Can't say I'm surprise to here this. Mortal Kombat X for last-gen news have been missing for months now and WB couldn't make the cut but I been saying this for a while now, no more last-gen ports, focus on current-gen only.

Kinda bummed about this. I wanted to play MKX but have not yet jumped into current gen. Sill, better this than release a mediocre version I suppose.

Time to move on folks.

Two things. One, we know Warner Bros doesn't care about quality control. And two, I don't believe a fighter like this wouldn't work on last gen consoles.

Warner Bros sucks. Shadow of Mordor on previous gen was not good idea, terrible framerate. Then they f**ked up MKX with micro-transactions and later didn't release Arkham Knight in early access. Next game is Mad Max, can't trust them anymore.

I think you are missing the point. smh cross gen games are looked down on not because its popular, lol. It's because game games in development are being held back so they can run on last gen systems. This is not the case with MKX, obviously.

Good. It is time to move on. The only games that should be getting last gen ports are sports games because they suck anyway.

It's funny how people get mad about this. "Lol why bother upgrading to current-gen when games are still coming to the PS3 and 360?" *game is announced for current-gen only* "NOOOOOO!!!!! WHY CAN'T THEY RELEASE THIS ON PS3 AND 360?!?!" It's time to move on, people.

However, I'll admit in this case, Warner Bros. should've been more open about it. If plans weren't going well, then just cancel the damn port before launch. They did that with 'Dying Light' and 'Mad Max'. Just canceled the last-gen versions before launch instead of dragging people around for months thinking it's still coming.

The funny thing is, that it would be nearly-instantly profitable to release it. With a combined install base of something of the order of over 150 million units, and maybe even a discounted price (people who are still into playing 360/PS3 games as a primary form of entertainment are in it for the bargains) they would sell gangbusters and maybe even blow "next-gen" numbers out of the water.

Personally, I would definitely be tempted by a $40 MKX Komplete package on PS3 since my computer can't run the PC version of the game (or at least well enough to enjoy) and I don't have any desire to own a POS4 or Xbone.

That install base isn't correct, as many of those consoles are no longer used. For example, I sold my X360 for an X1 during the $175 trade in offer.
Note: Please disregard the above post if the 150 mil count is a recent check of currently in use X360s and PS3s. :D

I have a feeling that you'll probably be tempted to get an Xbox One w/Metal Gear Solid V Package in a Black Friday bundle this fall :P

I disagree. Nowadays, current-gen versions of games are selling better than last-gen versions anymore. For example, Unbisoft confirmed that 'Watch Dogs' sold best on PS4 with the PS3/360 versions selling the least amount.

Also, it sounds like Warner Bros. hired High Voltage Software for a cheap amount, saw the port was crap, and decided to avoid paying them anymore when they finish and release the PS360 versions, and have to patch the hell out of the games to make them work (look what they did with the PC version).

I think it was a smart move to avoid wasting anymore money or getting bad PR for broken last-gen versions.

Proof? I still use both my PS3 and 360. Granted, it's highly infrequently considering I'm a truck driver and am never home, but they do get used. More than my Wii U.

The install base is there and people are still buying used PS3 and 360 games. If they weren't, Gamestop wouldn't be selling them like candy.

If I didn't have a wedding to start saving for, then I'd put that money towards a new gaming laptop rather than a console I'd use for one game. :P

No, not yet. That's what I'm waiting on anyways Komplete Edition for PS4.

I offered personal proof. OTher proof could be in the form of trade in numbers from the MS store and Best Buy, but I'm not looking them up. Suffice it to say that, it's obvious that no where near 150 million people still play the last gen consoles regularly. While I see nothing wrong with games being released for those consoles, your number cannot be accurate.

Side note...the PS2 only recently quit getting sports game releases. :D Supporting last gen can make sense, but not 150 mil playerbase sense. :D

I'm not likely to get a PS4 this year, namely because the 3DS, Wii U, and PS3 are still getting some interesting games and I have a backlog on all three platforms to play through.

So. I'm not mad if a game developed for Next-gen systems only from the start. I can accept that I won't be able to play Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, or Street Fighter V because I still own a PS3.

But I have to say, this just comes off as a cheap blow from Warner Brothers. I don't understand how a 1 on 1 fighting game is impossible to downport to older hardware, especially since it was announced alongside the next-gen versions. I'm going to lie, I was looking forward to getting Mortal Kombat X when it come out on the PS3.

I'm sorry, I don't see how there were "issues" downporting the game unless we are dealing with the worst development team in history.

No, I think the last gen versions were cancled to push people to next get systems if they want to play Mortal Kombat X, especially with the holidays coming up. Sony and Microsoft gain more from pushing people off older hardware, and Mortal Kombat X can be a tempting carrot for those who have not upgraded yet.

Well, Warner Brothers did me a favor. I guess I'll go spend the money on Metal Gear Solid 5 or Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Funny how opinions work. I think the Xbone and POS4 are worthless machines for anyone who games on PC.

Your PC can't even run a fighting well so you need an upgrade regardless of what you play on. It wasn't a SW comment, but a general gaming one.

What does that have to do with anything? At least my computer runs 99% of the games I actually want to play.
