tons of mmorpg's all over the web, tons of people playing them. I think gaming is heading to the mmo direction and single player experiences will have less importance in the future. On Pc you can find lots of mmorpg's for free and it's amazing how many people play them, if consoles were to adapt them, I think they'd stand as the most played genre. People seems to enjoy palying massime multiplayer games, I think it makes games somehow more interesting and enternatining. A friend of mine plays Metin 2, you can play and chat with the other people's character at the same time.

thoughts?

They are the future, I played WoW since it was released for almost 2 years and I just couldn't go back to "normal" gaming. MMO's fill the social aspects of gaming really well, normal gaming fails terribly for the most part. Even after I quit WoW it took a while to get back into consoles gaming and SP games etc.

the future

excessive grinding, mountains of spam, ridiculously over priced cash shops, monthly fees, loads of technical issues, gear based pvp

sounds like fun!

There will be more MMOs when blizzard is done dominating (it will happen eventually) but it will never replace normal gaming.

No it is not.. As a vet mmo player, the mmo industry does not cover numerous game play experiences that can only be seen in the singleplayer genre.. This is mostly due to the immense amount of work it would take for them to design a singleplayer narrative into a multiplayer like environment..

it's getting bigger and bigger indeed.. the problem is that these games are addicting and infinite. I'm confident that consoles will adopt them too, so many people like them

Let's hope not, nothing's as good as an excellent single player game.

Not as long as developers are still stuck with the idea of appealing to the same community WoW has, ignoring the reasons that bring the community to be so devoted to it.

Until someone begins to think different instead of just pretending to, every MMO is going to "fail".

I dread that if it's true. I much prefer single player experiences. I've attempted to play multiplayer games online, and to me it's aggrivating to find people to play with that are on a similar level and want a similar experience.

Does the acronyms "MMO" and "WOW" remind you guys of your mothers for some reason. It does for me.

They arent... Do you honestly expect every company can afford the cost to run the servers and all the people to do constant maintenance? And let's not forget EVERYBODY will not pay monthly.

You're taking the wrong approach.

Sucking hard is the first part of learning. Unless you have problems of self-esteem and emo-ness, you should just keep playing until you understand what you're supposed to do.

Those ZOMZG NOOBCAKE L0L will exist even when you are good.
