Modern Warfare 2's number in the series

Is call of duty modern warefare 2 basicly call of duty 6 or is it call of duty 4.5 because it's the sequel from 4, but there was another released before it.

If you factor in the other Call of Duty games, it's actually 11th. If you include DS versions, it's the 13th.
It's a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4 though, but it would seem like they're no longer using the Call of Duty name, so therefore, I don't know. :?
