More Disappointments for Sony's Timeline

08/2007: LAIR HAS APPARENTLY FLOPPED!!!! After the bashing in EGM(5.0, 5.5, 6.0), I seriously doubt that we will see much higher than a 7.0 here at Gamespot.

08/2007: Heavenly Sword is 720p only! Early HDTV adopters are screwed once again! If your TV does 1080i and not 720p(like many 3+ year old projection hdtv's), then Heavenly Sword will be rocking in 480p. Nice!!!!

08/2007: Heavenly Sword demo doesn't look as good as the videos that Sony has been feeding us for the last few months!!!

Lair was obviously overhyped. I never saw "AAA" for Lair, but Sony was pushing it as "AAA".

Regarding HS, I thought Sony had an update that would upscale games to 1080i. Did that happen?

I expect "Uncharted" to flop as hard as Lair. I don't understand the hype about that game.

Someone in my office has a Toshiba rear-projection HDTV and a PS3. I'm pretty sure that his old PS2 games actually upconvert to 1080i after the 1.8 update, but the 720p-only PS3 games still down-convert to 480p. I'm going to try to dig up some quotes from the HS devs that basically say "tough luck, buy an new TV" to people who have TV's that do 1080i, but not 720p.

A big :roll: to this. EGM is clownshoes. Sorry if your old HDTV has problems,I believe thats a risk one takes when adopting a technology so early. Heavenly Sword looks great and the demo was a blast. More disapointments for your fanboyism.donnygorgas

Are we now going to random magazines to rate a flop or not?

That demo was nearly a year old....I saw it being demoed in Heros last season....that's how old it is. That being said it could be a flop, just as Halo could be a flop, just as Metroid could be a flop, just like Mass Effect could be a flop...ect

Key is wait till it releases. Rating it a flop now, you may as well call Halo3 a flop.

1. Lair has not flopped. GS reviews are all that matter when it comes to flopping. 2. Play it in 480p. It still looks pretty darn good. 3. The HS demo is from an old build. No, these do not pass.Ibacai

i agree with your comment on buying new technology, you cant blame the game because your tv wont support it at its best, its like me blaming crysis because my pc wont run it. im also very confused about how websites are managing to rate a game before its release, do they have pre-release versions? or are they just jumping the gun? either way i think we should wait until lair is actually released.

I think it's so funny that xbox fanboys have so much fun with the 'LOLORZ LAIR IZ TEH FLOP!!!11" threads and never mention it with one word that, according to EGM, Blue Dragon flopped just as hard. EGM is one magazine.
(Mind you, I'm not saying that either game flopped. Just observing the idiocy here)
There have been other ratings that were higher, care to take those into account as well?
