Xbox is again the start of a new video gaming architecture and new rendering to improve video gaming through hardware, middleware, and software.

Don't let these naysayers fool you we have Never seen a architecture that's inside the xbox one this is something new this is not AMD old this is FUTURE AMD.

Whole sound silicon

Its own compressing silicon

High bandwidth memory

Fully cache coherence( everything has its

own cache and bandwidth.)

AMD carrizo APU is rumored to be the start of production of the new era of with a similar architecture by the end of this year and start selling dgpu next year with DX12

NVIDIA has been working close with MS with DX12 for a while. Ironically their Pascal gpu architecture coming as Full dx12 arrives later next year.

So Phil was really correct when he says PC will benefit more from Dx12 because AMD and Nvidia are changing Architectures so they can benefit fully from the API.

As for the dx box12 it already has the requirements and hardware inside of the console to fully utilize the dx12 API.

As we move forward to a new era in gaming the understanding of " beta test for the future" will be understood.

Keep it dx box12

If the Xbox One is the future of gaming, I may as well quit now because that thing is a giant piece of shit.

DX12 has already been stated by many to have virtually no effect on the Xbox one. At least it can't do less than the cloud did because that does absolutely nothing.

As for PC gaming. Yes, they will benefit greatly. Good for them. Not like they need it, it's already the best platform out there.

Lolz. I still can't believe that people are thinking that DX12 will bring the X1 closer to the PS4. Still, it should do some amazing things for the PC. All we need to do now is kill off DX9.

@clyde46: fam it seems like you don't really understand what im saying this is not about the ps4 this about dx box12 and why Phil said it would be more benefit to pc its because amd and nvidia changing architecture to fully utilize Dx12 but nothing changes for the xbox because it already has the architecture.

But if you can give me a exclusive game that shows that it need to catch the ps4? Its already exceeded ps4 and the exclusives and tech that's being used on them games shows beyond the resolutions.

OK, I'll bite. Infamous Second Son runs better and is doing more at once than Ryse. They both look pretty good, but I would have to say that Infamous takes more horsepower to run than Ryse. And if the "architecture" of the Xbox One is better than the PS4, why does the PS4 run every multiplat better? The Xbox One GPU is based on 2012 tech. How is that supposed to be DX12 ready when AMD, who made the Xbox One's GPU, has yet to launch it's DX12 cards? You even said it yourself. AMD and NVIDIA are changing their architecture to utilize DX12. So that would prove that the Xbox One is not DX12 capable.

Many devs have already stated that the DX12 tools on Xbox One will help them do some different things, but the GPU will ultimately hold them back from doing anything big.

DX12 is just the KEY. What is a KEY used for?

Phil is playing games with the press. He's right though. DX12 by itself can't do much, but.... lol!!

A CD can't do much buy itself. A battery by itself isn't going to do much either. LOL!! The riddle isn't too hard to figure out.

You know PS4 will remain the world's most powerful video game console though. DX12 wont help that and by the sounds of it, we wont see much in the console department in the long run either. Guess we'll see.

True, DX12 is not hardware. DX12 doesn't come out until next year along with full Cloud tech support. I do not know why they are talking about it now. The E3 2015 will show what DX12 and Cloud tech can do.

While DX12 is not changing core standards of DX11, so DX11 gpu's will see the cpu optimizations from DX12. Now Even with DX12 the X1 will not gain major performance gains however it will allow it to save some cpu resources communicating with the cpu, allowing the free cpu cycles to go to the other tasks that need it generally speeding things up a little. The PS4 has a gpu that is roughly 30% faster then the X1's and allows developers to put gpgpu workloads like physics saving cpu resources allowing the same to more gains for the cpu on the PS4. But as it stands now both consoles are cpu bound and needs these types of cpu saving techniques to move beyond their current limits.

Right. The only real gains will be A.I. or other CPU related tasks.

"“I think there is a lot of confusion around what and why DX12 will improve. Most games out there can’t go 1080p because the additional load on the shading units would be too much. For all these games DX12 is not going to change anything,”

"They might be able to push more triangles to the GPU but they are not going to be able to shade them, which defeats the purpose. To answer the first question, I think we will see a change in the way graphics programmers will think about their pipelines and this will result in much better systems hopefully"

So you are now a full lemming.?

DX12 will do nothing for the xbox one, because DX12 is the xbox one API done on PC,is basically the xbox one CPU gains brings to the PC arena which is why DX12 isn't here is something that started not to long ago because MS got scare of Mantle and Opengl to.

Much like the Tile resources crap that MS was hyping so much on xbox one, when we all know is partially resident textures with a different name which has been supported in GCN since 2011 and by OpenGL as well so if anything again MS was late they are just drama queens which try to hide crap already done and tag it as new.

Both consoles have basically DX12,since consoles always have lower CPU over head, this is a Fact no my opinion draw calls on PC sucked compare to console for that same reason as well,at least now is better.

DX12 will help PC because it brings something PC was missing and that consoles have for years.

I hate it when people make threads about hardware/software with no actual grasp of what they are talking about.

DX12 main benefit for the xboxone is that more games will be easily ported. If you are expecting huge performance gains, then you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.

@scottpsfan14: how is it weaker hardware? You all have to understand where the industry is going. And do we ever even mention PS4 when it comes to where the industry going? NO AMD were to put an APU similar to the PS4 where is it, it never going to come. AMD and NVIDIA are moving to similar archs as the xbox and not the ps4. Right on time for dx12? the xbox already have the hardware and still improving the software.

Carrizo use staked memory which isn't the same as Embedded, the PS2 had embedded ram 4MB to be exact,it was manufacture on 1999,we are on 2014,so no that is not where the industry is going, stacked memory is different.

ESRAM like EDRAM and Sram on PS2 were all embedded memory, sony was there before MS and they drop it.

It better to have bast amount of fast memory than bast amounts of slow memory and 1 small pool of fast ram..

Not only that do you know Carrizo will probably launch with a 7770 like GPU or weaker but will have 128MB of staked memory? That is what 4 times as big as the xbox one does that tell you anything about how small ESRAM is.?

In fact Carrizo is an APU which is basically AMD low end gaming solution, you have no point.

But let me end this once and for all....

“We have not built an APU quite like that for anyone else in the market,” Taylor told the Inquirer.

“It is by far the most powerful APU we have built to date.”

http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/28/ps4-apu-by-far-the-most-powerful-amd-has-produced/

Lets see what spin you put into that one...From AMD it self...hahahaaa

@tdkmillsy: The same AI set up could be done without the cloud, nice try though. Besides I thought the cloud was originally supposed to be so amazing it would make your Xbox One produce graphics comparable to having the power of 4 Xbones. How did we go from quadrupling your systems power to running some shitty ai code?

That is because MS over sold it,hell they also downplaying the cloud doing much as well,it would mostly serve for dedicated servers, anything that use the cloud need constant internet and fast one since the code also compete with bandwidth with the game.

MS has been running damage control pretty much since the whole war started, first they refuse to talk spec, then they damage control, using.

ESRAM,Tile resources,cloud,DX12,5 billion transistors in the apu all that crap,to make the xbox one look closer to the PS4 or superior.

The only parity that can be is the one MS pay for or the one lazy developers bring.

Wrong.

People are wrong about this that is not DX12 hardware,MS is supporting new hardware features of an Nvidia GPU on DX12 which isn't here and will not be until late 2015.

The same happen whit Partially resident Textures, hardware support for megatextures, which MS didn't support and when they did they change the naming to Tile Resources.

So no the 980TGX isn't DX12 compatible,DX12 will be fully compatible on late 2015 with a mid 2014 GPU which isn't quite the same, and i am sure like it has happen already that most of those features that will land on 2015 are already on OpenGL 4.4+ like Bundles and other things as well..

MS is just late.

@tormentos: Torm you are stupid and have no idea what you are talking about. The stacked memory is the same as the carrizo ON PACKAGED MEMORY MADE BY THE SAME PEOPLE you can deny it all you want.

I/O 1024gbs 4 STACKS

You keep pasting that old shit but they havent said nothing else about it since feb of last year. Why would you ditched your most powerful APU gddr5 heaven that is the ps4 to constantly work with the so called weak one then change they whole way of thinking just for 32mb of esram on a 7790? You only playing yourself.

You can't be serious. Xbox brand is unpopular, and you think he'll purposely mislead consumers by telling them not to expect anything?
