Link Contradictory Statement By Sony Europe CEO David Reeves
So let's get this straight:
1) Sony announces a $100 price drop on the 60-gig American PS3 at E3.
2) Two days later, Sony says, "Oh, we're not REALLY giving you a "permanent" price drop, we're just phasing out the 60-gig American PS3."
3) So, Sony's prices are really staying the same in the long run, they are just adding in more hard drive space (80-gig) and swapping out costly parts from the American 60-gig PS3 (such as the hardware that allows PS2 games to be played without emulators?).
4) Microsoft wins out by not messing with the Xbox 360's price, since Sony is inevitably shooting themselves in the foot again. We're sure getting a different story now than we were getting at E3.
