People are willing to spend hundreds of dollars for a modded PS3 360 controller.

People even made code for PS3 to use 360 remotes on it.

Goes to show you which is the better remote. 360 > PS3

Anyone that wants to mod that crappy PS3 controller into a 360 controller check this out.

Truth_Hurts_U

Please explain how the PS3 controller is crappy outside of shooters.

Also... that mod is amazing. I will probably do it for shooters like KZ2 and Resistance 2.

The placement/shape of all 2 shoulder buttons are crap. Both triggers are sloped back. The placement of the 2 analog stick are to far down the controller. Plus on top of all that the controller is horribly small... So people like me with big hands don't like using it.

I really love the 360 controller. The best controller ever and I hope Ms never change it. Whenever I hold a PS2/PS3 controller it actually hurts my hands now.

What it comes down to is what your personal choice is. Just because a game has crap controls doesn't mean the controller itself is bad, it's the developer's fault.

PS3 controller>360 controller, because 360 D-pad sucks and the PS3 controller comes rechargable. The D-pad on the PS3 is actually 4 seperate buttons and the 360s D-pad is one round button. The PS3 one allows for no doubt which direction you're pushing and the 360 one gets it messed up because it's all connected.

here on GS and other sites, some Xbox 360 games have been marked down soely because of its crap controller.

take a look at Bionic Commando Rearmed review or Mirrors Edge review, or Street Figher IV previews, you will see that Xbox 360 version has been marked down or criticized just because of its crappy controller. there are lots and I mean lots of reviews where Xbox 360 controller was metioned as a hinderance to the game's controls.

There has not been any PS3 game where its controller was criticized.

DualShock is the best controller ever made, it is suitable for ALL games. where as, the same cant be said for Xbox 360.

xxThyLordxx

uh you are mixed up, its the PS3 controller that is pure crap, it doesnt even have proper triggers, and they are positioned all funky, PS3 controller = total crap.

DS3 is one of the worst controllers i've used. at least its more comfortable than the old NES pad, but seriously.. terrible controller. it's too light, it's cheaply made, the charge cord is like 2 feet long. do not want.

would have preferred the boomerang.

Anyone who plays SFIV with a DPAD has no place playing SF. It would be like playing Crysis with your feet. That game was designed, without question, for a stick.

And, really, the only advantage DualShock has over the 360 controller is the DPad. In every other department the 360 controller is superior.

Of course the Dualshock is far superior over the 360 controller.

And this is not opinion. How many companies make controllers for PC that look just like the PS ones? Almost every controller company. Because it feels great in your hands, buttons feel right,...and the controller looks FAR better than the 360 controller.

you're actually wrong.

the dpad is the closest you have to the arcade fighter sticks. the sticks on the 360 and PS3 provide too much freedom of movement which can hamper nailing moves unless you're incredibly precise.

that's why anyone that is serious about fighters on console use a Hori gamepad, which is basically a dpad with an arcade stick attached and larger buttons :).

normally i agree with you, but you're dead wrong on this one. fighters are designed for 8-direction sticks, and the dpad is the closest you get on consoles (barring a Hori gamepad).

The only thing proven is the lackluster performance of the 360 d-pad, everything else is preference.

I think (my opinion) the perfect controller is DS3 d-pad, DS3 analog stick position with 360 dips your thumbs, and 360 triggers.

They should just send you a box of parts like legos and you make your own:idea:

newer custom color 360 pads (blue, pink, red, etc) apparently have better dpads. haven't tried them yet though. but i use a hori stick for anything that requires dpad precision.

Lol.

When someone says they play fighters with a "stick" they're not talking about the tiny analog nubs connected to a game pad (I don't know why you're calling a Hori stick a "Gamepad," but a gamepad is something like the dualshock or 360 controller, not a stick,) they're talking about an actual arcade stick.

I have a custom built stick setup.

SF. Serious business.

It isn't self ownage because It gives you a charge cable that is 2.5 feet long and Xbox 360 makes you buy rechargeable batteries. Out of the box, the PS3 already won this contest. Now if I really want to, I can buy a longer cable for $5 whereas Xbox360 needs a play and charge kit.

sorry mate, it is SO. they might as well give you a charge cable that is 2.5 inches long.

and guess what happens to a PS3 controller when the internal battery dies? yeah - thought so.  it was so considerate of sony to sell us disposable controllers with sealed batteries. great for the environment too eh :)

The DS3 cramps my hands after about an hour......I wish they would design a controller that is not made for 10 year old boys..

Wardemon50

I'm sure those cramps have nothing to do with the controller........

Thats your problem...

I do wish god blessed me with 10 year old hands just so I can use the DS3...

EDIT:

"I skipped school to play age of booty today"

It isn't self ownage because It gives you a charge cable that is 2.5 feet long and Xbox 360 makes you buy rechargeable batteries. Out of the box, the PS3 already won this contest. Now if I really want to, I can buy a longer cable for $5 whereas Xbox360 needs a play and charge kit.

sorry mate, it is SO. they might as well give you a charge cable that is 2.5 inches long.

and guess what happens to a PS3 controller when the internal battery dies? yeah - thought so.

Well I'm a gigantic gaming addict and I have yet to run into that problem. I mean, I skipped school to play age of booty today

well i know people that have. and if you google and do some research you'll see that over time you'll spend more money on new DS3 than you will on rechargeable batteries for the 360 over time based on lifespan estimations for both products. several sites have done breakdowns of the cost.

You're right, it's all because he held that controller for too gosh-darned long. A whole hour...wow.

Anyone who plays SFIV with a DPAD has no place playing SF. It would be like playing Crysis with your feet. That game was designed, without question, for a stick.

And, really, the only advantage DualShock has over the 360 controller is the DPad. In every other department the 360 controller is superior.

Phazevariance

This is 100% true fact, that is totally undisputable, preference doens't matter, 360 controller = best ever EVER

Both of oyu are 100 percent correct.

and guess what happens to a PS3 controller when the internal battery dies? yeah - thought so. it was so considerate of sony to sell us disposable controllers with sealed batteries. great for the environment too eh :)
