You do realize that this kind of thing happens with every product launch?
The Wii, Wii U, Dreamcast, NES, Genesis, SNES, original XBox etc... didn't have these kind of issues. So no. It doesn't happen with every product. Not on the scale like this. Keep trying to damage control this. lol!!
Every product has defect, including the DC,Nes,Genesis,Snes and the original xbox as well,in fact MS replaced 14 million power cords that were faulty and lead to fire, but the real issues was expose to be the connection inside the power supply which irrelevant to changing the cable or not could turn your unit on fire.
Every product has a 3 to 5% defective rate, how expose those are totally depend on how great the product in question sell.
5% of the PS2 user base is in no way shape or form even close to 5% on the xbox,DC,GC or any unit that sold very low numbers.
5% of 100 million units is 5 million units the DC sold 9 million units total,so yeah in damage units alone the PS2 could total the whole number of DC sold.
5% of 10 million is what 500,000 units.?
So if you have the 2 consoles with 5% fail and the PS2 sold 100 million in 5 years, and the DC sold 10 million in 7 years, which one do you think will sound to have a higher fail rate.?
Math doesn't lie 5 million defective units will generate a hell of allot more buzz than 500,000...
Funny enough Apple send Foxcom 5 to 8 million defective Iphone 5,Foxcom also make some xbox one and PS4,so yeah be prepare, because comment like this will come back to hunt you next week, and we all know how bad MS reputation was because of RROD.
