Seems there are more people having problems with the Red Line of Death on their new PS4 consoles. Hopefully its a software problem and not 'actually' an overheating problem because as we all know, that can be a huge pain in the Microsoft.

Reddit Sauce

Anyone on GS have this problem yet and if so, how did you fix it? or did you fix it?

This was interesting. It seems like the PS4 that are failing are from a specific location. Saw this on Playstation Support forum. Anyone on here with a working PS4 can check their PS4 and see where it was manufactured?

Mine is working fine. It did hard freeze once but that was due to a software update issue with Warframe. My buddy's PS4 hard froze during the exact same thing.

Heads up for those that don't want their PS4 to hard freeze... Warframe sucks. Save yourself from downloading it.

Don't know about that. Sony is going to have to spend millions in repairs and finding the root cause for all these many issues. It seems like there are at least 4-5 different issues with the system. It might be coming from just one of their manufacturing plants. Sony will have to do some serious investigating to get to the bottom of the problems

Does anyone have a PS4 manufactured in Hongfujin Yantai China - September 2013., that works with no issues? .

This would only compound the hilarity drawn from the cow hypocrisy over Sony charging for online and them all accepting it.

I don't know if it's a huge scale or just the age of internet that amplifies this. Back when Xbox and PS2 launched there was no twitter for people to quickly report failures.

I guess we have to wait for some official numbers from Sony.

Every product has defect, including the DC,Nes,Genesis,Snes and the original xbox as well,in fact MS replaced 14 million power cords that were faulty and lead to fire, but the real issues was expose to be the connection inside the power supply which irrelevant to changing the cable or not could turn your unit on fire.

Every product has a 3 to 5% defective rate, how expose those are totally depend on how great the product in question sell.

5% of the PS2 user base is in no way shape or form even close to 5% on the xbox,DC,GC or any unit that sold very low numbers.

5% of 100 million units is 5 million units the DC sold 9 million units total,so yeah in damage units alone the PS2 could total the whole number of DC sold.

5% of 10 million is what 500,000 units.?

So if you have the 2 consoles with 5% fail and the PS2 sold 100 million in 5 years, and the DC sold 10 million in 7 years, which one do you think will sound to have a higher fail rate.?

Math doesn't lie 5 million defective units will generate a hell of allot more buzz than 500,000...

Funny enough Apple send Foxcom 5 to 8 million defective Iphone 5,Foxcom also make some xbox one and PS4,so yeah be prepare, because comment like this will come back to hunt you next week, and we all know how bad MS reputation was because of RROD.

Very true, but I have never seen amazon reviews like that. And yes, I know that is not an "accurate" way to measure, but I still l haven't seen it.

I've been putting my PS4 through the ringer since yesterday by playing online multiplayer with Killzone, watching blu-rays and netflix in addition to restarting the console every few hours to see if anything happens. Nothing has been wrong with my console thus far. Only issues I had were with PSN when I first got the console yesterday but that's over now. I did notice my HDMI port seemed to be sketchy but it hasn't giving me any problems so, whatever. i also do not have the wobble some consoles do so, I'm guessing that is a manufacturing issue only affecting some also.

With hundreds of thousands of consoles now out. It pretty obviously to anyone who knows electronics that a few thousand will be defective and it doesn't mean a large scale above average failure rate. Sites like Amazon.com allow anyone to review an item whether they bought it from them or not so, those reviews aren't reliable. Most people who have a working or defective console won't be posting online about it so, these percentage never represent the full picture and nowadays we have to worry about dumbass trolls and fanboys writing fake reviews so we can't get the full picture easily either.

It sucks to be one of the percentage who got a defective console but no piece of electronic has a zero percent failure rate and if you're buying at launch, you risk it more then ever. At least the warranty will get you a new one without any hassle.

I love the twist you put on things. I really am convinced you have serious issues. The 360 had a issue with the GPU overheating and effecting the soldier on the board. The PS4 has no eject buttons, electrical shocks, can communicate with controllers, bricks before update, bricks after update, DOA. I could go on but you get the point.

I don't think a consumer product has ever seen this on a scale this big and we are only 24 hours into a launch.

MS is confident this time. The had the retail X1 on tour for months now. They didn't hide it from everyones eyes like Sony. I warned you and it all came true.

While I'm sure there are a few troll reviews, if you look at most of the negative reviews, the majority of them say "Amazon Verified Purchase" which means that the person is confirmed to have actually purchased the item from Amazon. I doubt many people are buying PS4s just so that they can post a negative review on Amazon. Most of the reviews seem to be legitimate.

Even if they only bought it to sell it, why would they post a negative review about it? That is not a good way to drive up demand; it will only decrease demand and therefore decrease what they can sell it for. So again, I doubt many people did this.

There is no spin and the xbox 360 had a barrage of issues not just GPU related.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/error-codes

lol Lemming love to lie...

Yes there was one with a way bigger scale is call the xbox 360,and the fact that you even dare to saying that we have not see something like this is a joke,ay less people on 2005 had internet connection to report problems like now,and still RROD was huge and bigger.

Pretend all you want shill MS has a page detailing the errors the xbox 360 had 1 problem it wasn't.

@SUD123456 said:

Actually 5% is what more product have from 3 to 5%,which is the number MS hide on 2005,2006 and part of 2007,when the real number was more than 40%.

There is a level of failure which all products have 3 to 5% is acceptable 30% 40% is not like it happen with the xbox 360.

The reason you haven't see enough yet is because the fail rate is low,in fact 5,000 people can report bad units and that still is way under the level of failure,i haven't seen even close to 5,000 people.

5% out of 1 million units is 50,000 so yeah is i am sure is not even close to the 5%.

The problem here is lemmings like always trying to make this seem RROD big when in fact is not.

People can we calm down with this Red light of doom thing? The consoles bot X1 and PS4 had 8 and 7 years to build their products. They will not have the failure rates of the NES, PS2, C64, Xbox 360. PS3.
