2 minutes ago I was watching CNN and it was telling that news about how teens who play driving games tend to get into more car accident. Well they told what the German scientist found but played a clip of GTA:VC but instead of showing driving sequences they showed literally the whole time the player beating up prostitutes with weapons. Wow, now I know how dumb and educated people truly are. Point being is that the footage was pretty irrelevant to the point being stated. And if some unknowledgeable person saw this, they would be very misinform and people could take this the wrong way and they'd call their nearest senator and by next week legions of deamon along  video-game hating with Thompson will rise from........Won't happen but you get the point.

Nah, this is just the world of modern news. They have whole rooms of people sitting around discussing how best they can inflame public opinion with irrelevant content and techniques in medium and production.

But imagine the people watching this going about their daily lives. Though I fear people may get the wrong ideas.

Ban them.  Ban them all.

BTW at least 75% of all time spent in GTA is wasted beating up hookers, according to a recent survey.

CNN has taken the whole "liberal media" image they have and turned into Fox News. So now, people think that they can trust CNN, but in reality, CNN sucks just as hard as Fox, they just try to be sneaky about it. You might have noticed how they frequently "accidentally" say Barack Osama instead of Obama, or they play footage of war/terrorists while talking about him. It's all not-so-subliminal messaging.

My advice is this - turn off the news, now.

I really don't see why this is big news. It's like saying that adult films inspires sexual deviance, we all know it's true.

The same people that talk down about games in their news stories are the same people that would go to a play where everybody is naked and not say a thing. It's hard to believe the news when they are getting paid so much to report it.

I read that some researchers came to a conclusion that playing driving games makes ppl actually drive safer....
And another stated that in a research ppl playing UT had better eye sight than the ones that didnt.
Dont have link but the explanations where very  believable....

You just might be on to something.... Perhaps McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's are part of a secret alliance that is partnered with the government to make hamburgers that modify the behavior of young people. Not only are these sandwichs making young people steal cars and beat up old people, but they are also addictive. That way, the evil Hamburger Alliance makes money, and the government can use tax dollars to employ millions of cops, probation officers, attorneys, etc... Aaaaand maybe not.

When it comes down to it there is still a video game in which you beat up prostitutes, that itself is pretty confronting.

Tons of people, at least in GTA there are, but come on the media only lives to inflame the public. I swear they get excited everytime there is somthing bad to report. Since their ratings go thru the roof. I call it the Rovian headliner.

You would think it does most simulations do make people better at the subject being simulated. Practice driving 150 milles an hour for 400 hours does improve your response speed. I also read that games that require dexterity increase the dexterity of the users. It's like anything if you practice at it you will get better at it. Now it's just that the games realism is getting closer to reality playing these simulations actually can improve your skills. I know pilots that fly flight sim are better pilots that don't. Since they can safly practice situations that rarley occur in the real world, and learn how to deal with these situations. I think CNN sucks becuse they don't give any counter point to the accusation that was presented by the original poster.
