Most convincing render of asian female character model.

For far too many games I've seen that feature Asian females character models, they can never get the look right. There's always something off about the proportion, whether being too cartoony or down right unnatural. I think Black Desert does an excellent job of portraying them and the highly advanced character creation tools certainly helped greatly. It's embarrassing that most devs in the industry couldn't get different ethnics other than "white" looking right still, I think it's time to really remedy that flaw with the advance of current gen technology no?

Korean developer so not surprising they got it right. Too bad it's yet another MMO though.

The eyes are damn fine. The rest is again...cartoonish. You can never get the Asians right, that's for sure.

My friend: it has little to do with technology. Typically: we have 3 types of human heads.

Brachycenhpalic (broad headed) Dolichocephalic - (long headed) and Mesophalic (intermediate)

Asian people typically have Brachycenhpalic (i.e. there head is wider horizontal than vertical) with a slightly sloped inward moderate chin slope. Basically: shorter - rounder faces.

Games tend to use Western ideals: because (like it or not) this is what are considered good proportions. What you end up with: is Asian features with Western proportions.

Or.. it's it's influenced by anime: exaggerated features such as the eyes being 3-4 times across as apposed to 5 and the chin slop even more slopped.

Design basically: not technology.

Black Desert is indeed very impressive looking MMO to come out. You should also check its character creation system. It's insane.

It is a Korean MMO, and a good portion of Korean women indeed look very very similar even to other Koreans, since they've all uniformly went through plastic surgeries, some of which done by the same doctors.

I think the lack of polygon budget of previous gen and the primitive lighting are the culprits of not properly rendering an Asian female's face since they are a bit more rounder with more curved features. I doubt it's the purpose of favoring a more westernized face since the whole idea of aiming for realism would be compromised. With enough polygon budget and a good enough lighting engine, I doubt many artists would shy away from putting these in game.

Yeah you definitely need more polys to round up the intricate features alright.

The surgery craze has spread to the rest of Asia as well. So many girls want to look like their k-pop idols -.-

nope..asians can be very fair..especially chinese, korean & japanese..if you haven't seen any fair ones..you haven't met enough asians. :P

Oh and just because it's made by Korean devs doesn't mean they have to look all like korean girls, a lot of Chinese and Japanese chicks actually do look like them that I've seen in real life.
