and by depressing i mean any thing in the game that reminds you of a bad memory, extreme difficulty.. etc.
well for me, Morrowind. only because something bad happened while i was playing. a shame. i loved Morrowind, now i try to steer clear of it. :(
GoW2 endurance run. (path right before you beat Clotho) on titan. oh man. thats the hardest thing to do in a game. (almost as hard as NG on Master Ninja) only because you fight in extremely close quarters, and you have to use your brain AND reflexes.
GoW1, while fending off those clones, on God mode. argh. ive done it before. but damn they're annoying.
A few key people died before I even got a chance to use em.. :( 2 infact... And both of em had very interesting and rather sad background stories. It's like kicking the guy in the wheel chair...... several times. :(
Three games: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - The ending. 'Nuff said. TLoZ: Twilight Princess - I did not want that game to end. And when it did I knew I wouldn't have the time or patience to go through a 30+ hour game again. So it ended, and that was it. Sad. F-24 Stealth Fighter - Takes one of my favorite childhood games (Turn & Burn: No Fly Zone) and pisses all over its grave. Depressing, in an enraging kind of way.
What little that I played of Fatal Frame was quite depressing.
The chapters Route Canal, Water Hazard, and Highway 17 in Half-Life 2 are pretty depressing. In Highway 17, you see the damage done to the earth's resources like the oceans partially drained away, as well as the quiet and empty houses dotting the roadside with only the sound of the wind keeping you company. The near-total lack of music during that chapter, combined with the sheer lonliness, make it my top depressing gameplay experience.
I also agree on that and I believe that the end with gold is actually true. I've played saving everything I could save and I ended up being killed by my greed.
Chrono Cross. There's a line of dialogue that reads "Every second you live you're creeping closer and closer to your own death". Depressing much?Fortier
man chrono cross had one of the best music ever. it was quiet sad too. Chrono Trigger 600 A.D. music was also very depressing. loved with games --- best games of all time.
Half life 2 did a really good job of making it seem like people are actually sad and struggling. That was sort of depressing but It also made me want to completely destroy the combine so it could trigger alot of emotions in it.
theres a few games Ive been depressed playing but one that comes to mind is 50 cent bulletproof.I wanted to blow my brains out after 20 min of play time with that game
HL2 is just so damn lonely, it's basically just you against the lonely and corruptedpost-apocalyptic world. The only people you do know are always on the run and always being forced to defend themselves from the combine and you're always forced to take inhumanly dangerous paths just to get to a destination and be sent off through another inhumanly dangerous path with distruction ALWAYS trailing you... and sometimes catching up. Definately not a game that holds off on suspense.
