Well if I played every video game from every genre I could give you my opinion, but I haven't.
From what I have played/remember it might be:
Platformer: You Probably Won't Win (it isn't trial-and-error hard)
I rarely play Strategy games so I'll put them all under one genre
Strategy: A wargame
FPS: No clue
Tactical FPS: VBS2?
SHMUP: No clue
Bullet Hell: No clue
Sim (overall): No clue
Action RPG: No clue
Tactical RPG: No clue
TPS: No clue
Anything under Adventure: No clue
Survival Horror: No clue
Puzzle: No clue
Stealth: No clue
Beat em Up/Hack n Slash: No clue
Light Gun: No clue
Rhythm Game: No clue
Action Adventure: No clue
That's my list.
Haven't played too many games I thought were particularly difficult this gen, with the notable exception of:
Real-time Tactics: Men of War
There is nothing about RPGy about JRPGs, but they're called that because that is just what they're called. Apparently people go into nerd rages if their game is classified in a genre they don't like the sound of.I consider NG2 a beat em up, there's nothing really adventurey about it.

Uh... I didn't say it was.[QUOTE="Zerkrender"]I honestly don't play a lot games. But from my limited knowledge these are the hardest games. FPS: ARMA2 SIM: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2010 Action RPG: Demon's Souls TRPG: SMT: Devil Survivor came out this gen, but it is on the PS2. Does that count? JRPG: Persona 4, but same problem above. WRPG: Dragon's Age AA: Ninja Gaiden 2 for the Xbox 360. So hard people claim it's impossible rather than they suck. Possible the hardest game this gen overall.Slashkice
Devil Survivor is a DS game. I'm not sure what the official stance is for games like Persona 4. It depends if you define a gen by the systems, or by a timeframe.
I use both though! :P[QUOTE="Vaasman"]There is nothing about RPGy about JRPGs, but they're called that because that is just what they're called. Platformer: VVVVVV
RPG: The Dark Spire
Action: Ninja Gaiden II
FPS: No idea..
SHMUP: DeathSmiles or Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
RTS: No idea..
That's it, I guess.

How are JRPGs not RPGs? have you ever 'played pretend' with your friends when you were a little kids? Well a Role Play Game is just like that but also as a game (meaning you can actually win or lose).I consider NG2 a beat em up, there's nothing really adventurey about it.

GTAIV is action adventure.
NG2 is beat em up.
