I would say Capcom, not because of their games, but because of their business practices. (Yeah, I enjoyed RE5 and still play it. Deal with it.)

Agreed. Their games aren't bad, but as a company I can't say that I'll keep supporting them.

After hearing about Mega Man Legends 3, I wonder how they have a fanbase at all. Although, their games are still high quality, generall speaking.
How can you not say Capcom. They used to be consistantly responsible for some of the best games every gen. They started pretty good this gen, but completely dropped off in quality.
Lionhead easily. Fable 2 was very good but felt like it could've been MUCH more and Fable 3, don't even get me started...:|
Exactly what I think, I did enjoy Fable 2 but if they took their ideas from Fable 1 and made them into a better package they could of had an amazing game. Instead they tried going in a completely different route which in turn netted them hate from quite a few of their fans. Then they did it again with Fable 3, taking out pretty much every weapon and leaving you with 4 types and making the game even more simple than the previous games which weren't exactly complicated to begin with.Lionhead easily. Rockstar is definitely up there. Compromising gameplay for the sake of not-even-that-good-for-a-game stories is an awful, awful design choice.
I'd also throw in Silicon Knights (I have no idea how a developer that sounds so smart and comes up with such great ideas can turn out such consistently bad games), Polyphony Digital (they had no excuses for GT5 being anything less than perfect, and it was decidedly less than perfect) and Bungie (not that the Halo games have been bad by any stretch, but they've continued their not-so-proud tradition of one step forward, one step back in spectacular fashion).
Id Software needs to join the rest of the world in 2011. They are stuck in 1992.Id software. They release one game and it's not a graphical powerhouse or amazing.

... Why would it being a graphical powerhouse some how excuse it from being a mediocre/average game?
Rare. I was expecting more. They got off to a decent start with Kameo and Viva Pinata, but after that it's been a lot of disappointment.

It's just that their games always did something amazing before. It's just a surprise coming from Id.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]

Expect Doom 4 to be the graphical powerhouse. We better see it by/at E3 2012.
This is personal.
Insomniac without a doubt. They were my favorite developer last generation, Ratchet and Clank was AMAZING. This gen, Resistance is OK, Tools of Destruction was great (not AMAZING) and everything else by them was merely decent. I did not expect to not buy an Insomniac game day 1 at all this gen, but All 4 One looks weak and a departure from what I want to see from the series, and Resistance 3, while it looks to be the best in the series, I just didn't feel excited enough to buy it. I guess going third party really didn't net them the same Sony advertising they got for Resistance 2 (which I couldn't wait for back in 2008.)
Capcom and Nintendo. Capcom released 4 geamse 3 or 4 different times. Still not sure what they were thinking about the SF4 DLC. Oh that is right. Money.
As for Nintendo. The released very little new original content and it was all terrible. Most people thought the Wii was new and innovative. Well? Maybe it was but it looked so terrible I didn't wanna play it. Specially when I have played it all before just in a different package.

Have you played A crack in time? Because I can tell you that it utterly destroys tools of destruction 10 times over. Seriously.
Same thing with Resistance 3 compared to the other Resistance games. Only there's an even bigger difference there. Lol.
Crytek? They were famous during the beginning of the gen for making Crysis now they're hated by the community for what they did with Crysis 2 :P
Monolith. Condemned was good, but after that they fell apart this gen,GeneralShowzer
They made Xenoblade: Chronicles :(. That more than redeems them for their mistakes this generation.
I think I'll go with Square Enix. I don't know many of their games outside the FF franchise, but they've consistently made mediocre and generic titles this generation (The Last Remnant, FF XIII, FF XIV).
I wouldnt say Capcom, they revived the fighting genre with SF4. Nor Rare, despite their lack of success this gen, viva pinata and banjo n&b are good games.
Lionhead has been disapointing for me. Fable 2 and 3 could have been a lot better. I love Halo but I would have liked to see Bunjie try something new for a change. I agree with the above sentiments regarding polyphony too. GT5 should have been near perfect but it was far from it.
Not sure about Rockstar. Their story, setting and characters are second to none but it allways seems that people become disillusioned with the actual gameplay after the initial excitement has worn off.
I'll say Rare. Heard of a NEW Banjo Game.

How? By making a great game even though it took way too long to come out? They don't need to make overly scripted shooters with tons of cutscenes like the rest of the industry.

Would have to stop you there.
If there's one franchise people in the film and television industry seem to talk about in high regard, it's the Grand Theft Auto series. Not necessarily for its gameplay, but because they're written so very well. I'd even say there's good odds the industry talk animatedly about Sam and Dan Houser moreso than video gamers themselves.
All the best stories and scribes in video games usually fly under the radar. This is the community, after all, that thinks Mass Effect and Metal Gear Solid are the bastions of video game storytelling. Personally, I enjoy those games too, so there must be something more compelling about starring in your own SyFy or Starz original series rather than something off HBO :P

No, that's a different Monolith.
