E.T.
It was supposed to be the staple of the 1982 holiday lineup and another testiment to how consumers can trust the Atari brand to deliver quality gaming.
What it did is kill the American console market for about 2 year.

That's pretty disappointing.

And if that doesn't count, then Daikatana. John Romero made nobody his b**** with THAT disaster.

Fable. Doom 3. Battlefield 2 (for me at least, the demo sucked me in and then the game failed to deliver).

I gotta say Fable personally, since it so clearly failed to live up to the lies peter molynoux spewed out. Man that game was sooo not what he said it would be, i felt cheated and robbed.

Hah. You thought Fable was a let down? Play The Movies! "Create your own Hollywood Blockbusters!"

More like micromanage whiny Sims ripoffs.

It's for for a while, but you get sick of having to deal with the actors and crew. You have to build the relationships, make sure they don't get fat or turn into a bunch of alcoholics. It's boring micromanagement. The movie making process does not feel involved.

It's a financial sim, not a movie making game.

No... I am not on ALL day... I guess it is just coincidence. ;)

I am here a lot, I have actually been cutting back lately.

I played the BF2 demo... I loved everything about it... the weapons, the c-lasses, the Gulf Of Oman map, the VOIP, the squads... everything. I loved playing as a sniper and sneaking around and such. I come onto GS the day before and read the review, it got a 9.3, it was praised as amazing... I said, alright, I will buy it. So I go to Futureshop, buy the DVD ROM version, bring it home, it fails to load, so I exchange it for the CD ROM version. I install the game, have a bunch of crash to desktop problems, finally get the game working. Make an account, go to the server list and try to connect to a server... after hours of trying to find an empty, low ping server, I finally connect, it starts loading and more crash to desktop problems.

It just went on and on from there, I played a bunch of single player, still enjoyed the game. The patch came out, fixed my crashing problems (for the most part), was finally able to get connected to a server, yadda yadda yadda... I was disappointed. The other games maps other than Strike At Karkand and Sharqi Peninsula never really grabbed my attention like Gulf Of Oman. All the bugs and "whoring" really detracted from my overall experience. I still play it from time to time but all in all I found it to be grossly overrated and yet another beta retail game pushed to market by EA. Only now it seems as if things are fixed... and even then the games balance is horrible. Anyone who is in a jet is king, if there are no jets then a tank... and so on...

lol, really? Damn that kinda sucks, it would be awesome if they made a proper movie making game. Preferably something on consoles since I don't like PC.

That would be... sweet.

Forgot about that. Definitely agreed. They went back to the series roots with Yoshi's Island DS though so I'm happy.

I think that Grabbed by the Ghoulies was a very lackluster transition for Rare. After their Nintendo work, the world expected something amazing. And it did not deliver IMO.

Well, to be fair GS can't judge how the game will run on everyone's respective system, as for the vehicle whoring, Do you honestly think in real life a Jet is to be on par with a tank balance wise?  Vehicles are tools of destruction, as in real life, a Jet has a major advantage over a footsoldier.

Nah... I just hated the fact you could take capture points in a vehicle and the exact same people would always whore the jets.

I love playing on infantry only Karkand and Sharqi servers... it seems that is how the game should have been made. Oman is still a good map when people play nicely. ;)

I have problem with people complaining about vehicles in BF2. Saying that it should have had no vehicles at all. The problem is that Battlefield is defined by is vehicles, without vehicles it's barely Battlefield anymore.

Also, nothing about the game is unbalanced. Everything can be easily taken down if you work as a team. It's not the games fault if people don't play like that.

I know nothing about the game actually... :P

I first assumed it was a RTS. I much prefer separate combat. When it gets mixed things just seem to lean towards whoever is in the most powerful vehicle.

Not really, many a gamer would agree Halo 2's campaign was very disappointing, and after playing SMS,I can see why GS gave it a low score,it simply wasn't as good as the previous installment.

In terms of disappointment, that puts them nowhere near the realm of, say, Daikatana or the 2600 version of Pacman.

In gaming history? Don't know, But i'll just give you my personal list:

3. Killzone) The so called "halo killer", do I even need to explain this one?

2. Castlevania: curse of darkness) At first I thought:"yeah! finally a Castlevania game on the xbox". But how disappointed I was about the lame and repetitive level design and boring-ass gameplay. What a piece of crap.

1. Half Life 2) I heard alot of people(mostly hermits) calling this the greatest FPS ever. They said it was better than Halo!! And the sad thing is I believed them! I actually started bashing the halo franchise for being over hyped at that time(lol). But I was soooo disappointed when I played it..Great graphics, great physics but a very average shooter experience. Not a Bad game, but a horrible disappointment.

Daikatana by far.  It was hyped to make you blow your load while playing it and it sucked hard.

In a far away second I'll say TP.  I love Zelda as a franchise but can't bring myself to say that this game is AAA worthy.

Even farther third, I'd say Halo 2's SP.  The MP was fantastic, but the SP couldn't hold a candle to the originals gameplay.  I hate lock on gun butts for the love of God.

Fable. Doom 3. Battlefield 2 (for me at least, the demo sucked me in and then the game failed to deliver).foxhound_fox

DOOM 3 was an EXCELLENT game and it's a shame people think of it this way.
