I'd say Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei series are underrated, especially with Persona.

Persona 3 and 4 were just awesome and I barely heard any bad comments about those games.

Heh, I was going to say Mechwarrior... No-one ever talks about that, and it really is the gem on the crown of the mech-battle genre, and just an exceptional series.

Yes i absolutely loved 3 it's my favourite out of the lot. I also loved the mad cat :P, I wish the series would come back but the only thing we are getting is a mod based of the Cry engine.

Heh, funny... 3 was my least favorite (Mercs 2 and 4 took it for me - 3 was still good, but didn't stand out for me) and I *hated* the Mad Cat... Don't get me wrong, it was a great mech to drive, but so spammed out. Give me a Thanatos, Summoner, Rifleman or Catapult any day of the week ;) Yeah, I'm not holding my breath on the Crysis mod for really filling the gap (still hopeful, but there is a *lot* to a good MW game, and that's a ton to expect from a mod). I do hope someone will pick up the IP and do it justice at least...

haha the catapult I could never drive that one too well. I actually didn't like 4 because of the mad cat MK II which as I saw it was a little imba lol, heavy type mech with jump jets(and it basically replaced the mad cat because it's weight load was higher I believe so it could hold me weps and have more mobility), I also liked the vulture and shadowpanther(sp?) the one with the X shaped missle launcher.

MechWarrior was actually my proper introduction to PC gaming. I am forever in its debt.
Also, Freelancer was awesome. It sucks that MS shut down Digital Anvil.
Hopefully they'll revive the series at some point.

Catapults were kind of niche mechs, but I liked their weapon payload for a mech that didn't have a ton of omni slots. Also very cheap for what you got in Mercs, them and the Zeus. I really enjoyed the summoner and Thanatos because they gave you a 360 degree torso twist, so you could literally run dead away from an opponent while attacking them... I do agree, for raw firepower, the Madkat MKII was freaky powerful, but, that's kind of always true of any big Clan mech. Not to say they're impervious though... I actually used to love driving a Raven with a few lasers and a bunch of anti-sensor equipment on it and getting behind a big mech and then just... Stayed behind the enemy mech. You could run and turn fast enough to stay directly behind a 90+ ton mech no matter how fast it turned, and pick them apart without them ever seeing you. I'd spend 3 minutes just picking away at the legs of Madcats and Dire Wolves without them ever being able to see me... Was pure bliss - and I remember seeing the odd Dire Wolf stop and type out obscenities to me as I picked away at him. Other than that, pop a few ER PPC's/ER large lasers on a summoner or some light gauss on a Thanatos, and just play your range/terrain well - bait missile loads, keep out of autocannon range or too close for proper missile lock... Yeah, I didn't find the big mechs that bad - you just had to play your cards right VS them.

Majora's Mask is the most overrated Zelda game ever, but only on this board will you have people claiming that Twilight Princess sucked. Most underrated game series is the Mega Man X series though. All the games except for maybe X7 were fun, fast-paced, hardcore, and beautiful.

I had no clue, I though the series just transitioned to the PC, didnt know the PS2 game was actually a port. Accourding to GS the games did very well, color me surprised.

There was a PC version and it's one of the best game I've played. The PS2 version is a bad port, Monolith doesn't do that well on consoles, mainly with Sony, like FEAR and FEAR 2, which were worse on PS3. The sequel was on PC and it was awesome too.

Better controls, quicksaves, which is useful since the game is long, longer than most FPSs. The PS2 version didn't have checkpoints or quicksaves, I think.

I'd have to agree. The game felt like an all around masterpiece in the gameplay and presentation front. I hope that Relic does a third one soon.

yea, Double Agent was bad. The next one, Conviction is less like SC, more like a video game version of Taken. That whole mechanic with the auto-aiming is a game breaker for me. This isnt SC, its a bad action game.

Strange. I thought Double Agent was a refreshing experience, a step out of the normal experience for Splinter Cell. Granted, I do believe the mutiplayer was inferior, but the single player experience was very strong. But, you're so right... I mean, just because you didn't enjoy it automatically means the series is garbage. Who am I to enjoy a game? How stupid of me.
