Which series REALLY is underrated? Both critically and commercially? No generation limit.
My Picks:

An amazingly long-lived series that is way better than what people say it is. The customization is superb, the gameplay is deep, and the competition (when you can find it) can be really intense.
The fact that the series has so many expansion pack-like sequels is the only thing that really holds it back.

I think I'm one of the only people on the face of this planet who loved Jumping Flash. It was Metroid Prime before Metroid Prime (well...sort of).
This game is really rare, so if you come across it as a trade store, pick it up.

Legends was a really underrated action rpg. It borrowed a lot from other games, but it was a really unique experience with lots of exploration and tweaking. It deviated so much from the original formula, but still stood on it's own as being a damn good series.
WAY way way better than Battle Network and the Zero series.
