Most Useful Video Game Weapons

Hey guys, I was on my way to flame some guy when I realized that I really dont feel like getting suspended or banned, and I figured, "hey, maybe SW could take a break from flamming and getting banned!" so I made this thread. In this thread we will talkabout what you think are the most useful weapons in games. Now I want you to be clear on this, I'm not talking about the coolest looking weapon, or the weapon that does the most damage. I'm talking about the most useful.

For instance, in KZ2, the rocket launcher does massive damage, but due to ammo constraints and reload time, I would still take the ISA rifle over it. OK, I think you got the general gist of the thread so lets commence! Oh yeah, post pics if you would like to spice things up! AND MAKE SURE TO EXPLAIN 'WHY' ITS ONE OF THE MOST USEFUL WEAPONS AND DONT FORGET TO NAME THE GAME SAID WEAPON COMES FROM.

Hedgehog Grenade (Resistance Series):

Sure you got your normal trusty frag grenade, and the aerosol napalm grenade is pretty cool for taking out large numbers, but nothing beats the pure awesomeness of the Hedgehog grenade. In open areas it can be a lil finicky, only damaging people rather than killing them (unless they are right in front of it) but you throw one of these babies in a small room (like the rooms in the Chicago level in R2) and you are guaranteed some kills! Heck I even use that annoying chimera blaster just so I can start with one of these babies in my inverntory.

Noob Tube (MW1 and MW2)

Yes, I despise it with every fiber of my being, and people who use it should burn in the depths of hell, but there is no denying the sheer OPness of this weapon. You get your noob tube with some Danger Close, and it actually takes skill to LOSE with that combo. I hate it, but its by far the most useful and effective weapon in the MW franchise.

ISA Rifle (Killzone 2):

Be a fanboy all you want. Sure you are one of those douches who loves shooting rockets down the hallway in Radec Academy. Or maybe you are one of those idiotic Grenade Launcher spammers? Or maybe you think you are so hot that you can just roll out with that single fire rifle and rock the game? Or maybe you think you rolling with a magnum is what its all about? Well, I dont care, because deep down you know that the ISA rifle is the biz! Great range, good in both close to mid range battles. Even at long distances you can get a few shots in. Excellent fire rate, great reload speed, terrfic accuracy (if you use burst shots), and a sexy "scope" that doesnt block your view. This beast is what KZ2 is all about! Anyone who isnt using this weapon is doing it wrong!

More like a hand cannon, being able to take out a full spartan with three shots. THREE SHOTS.

If you ever needed a side-arm or PDW, THIS IS IT.

yea i was gonna say the Halo CE pistol. It was the best weapon in both single and multiplayer.

It´s pretty usefull in the game as well. ;)

The one that comes to mind is the Halo Reach Needle Rifle

Slightly less powerful than the DMR but carries a bit more ammo and multiple shots will denotate.

I'm going to choose the one gun I always find useful in almost every FPS\TPS game with close quarters combat:

The shotgun

Almost every shooter I play has some sort of shotgun that can be used to turn enemies into nothing but red mist. Getting up close and blasting a dude in the face with an awesome shotgun is also one of my favorite things to do in any game.

Yes, the green dot of death is a beastly weapon.

Normally I find using AR boring, but I just love headshoting helghast from across the map with this gun.

If only they still had the secondaries....

I usually would say shotgun but I prefer the assault rifle in L4D and of course the gun in Vanquish can turn into lots of different weapons so that one too.

The BFG and the Redeemer, obviously. Oh, and the Dragon Sword and Rebellion were cool, too. :P

Having trouble opening that bottle? Maximum Strength.

The Light Saber. It can cut through a vault door, and even has defensive properties, enabling the weilder to deflect enemy fire 8)

No other weapon that I know of that will follow you through undeath. Soul Reaver is it!

Fat Man. Maybe it's my Fallout New Vegas hype, but: mini nuke, 'nuff said:

I luved it too and thought it was freaking awesome, but its not the most useful of weapons. It only kills 1 enemy at a time and the ammo was sort of scarce :P

I would like to add a shout out to The Blades of Chaos/Athena/Exile from God of War franchise. Sure there were other weapons, and the Blade of Olympus was pretty badass, but these are the original badasses...the weapons u go back to when you have to put everything on the line!

I would also like to add the Carbs (Carbine) from Resistance 1 and 2 (mostly 2):

In resistance one, this gun shot as fast as a minigun but had the power of a peashooter. I didnt really like it that much in Resistance 1, but I was forced to use it since every other gun was considered a noob weapon. I actually stopped playing Resistance 1 the day someone called me a noob because i killed him using the carbine. I mean this was the least noobish weapon in the entire game...that guy broke my heart and ever since that day, I walked away from the Resistance 1 community. In R2, this baby came back with avengeance! Now it had a slower firing rate but it did a lot more damage! This baby is what the game is all about! Sure you can noob tube with it, and thats fairly effective...I guess, but the majority of people use the actual gun itself. This baby is the gun to have on a rainy day!

UT2004's Shield Gun. Extremely useful.

Primary fire charged for a nice chunk of damage (+knockback), but more importantly it could be used to increase player movement via "shield jumping" (with a bit of self-damage) which required a lot of practice to truly master. In combination with the Berserk adrenaline combo, your mobility improved even further (more power to each jump) enabling you to traverse entire maps in just a couple bounds. This weapon is part of the reason UT2004 has probably THE most complex and varied movement system in any traditional FPS title to date.

Secondary fire was used to minimize incoming frontal damage. It did not make you immune to damage, rather it simply reduced frontal hitbox size dramatically from explosives/ballistics, and it outright REFLECTED energy-based weapons (meaning you could kill players with their own shock cores/link fire.) It was nicely balanced in that it has limited energy, and you cannot return fire while it's active. Great for quick retreats when you're getting low on health.
