Motorstorm Devs Pissed At Sony

well what do we have here? evolution devs pissed off at sony for the infamous motorstorm target render of 2005?

man sony did mess up real good! first claiming killzone 2 was realtime trailer (YES PPL SONY SAID IT WAS REALTIME NOT GEURILLA GAMES SO DONT GIVE THE DEVS A HARD TIME!)

and now evolution is pissed cos that target render was in fact made by someone else and not the devs themselves meaning they had enourmus pressure to try live up to it when sony wasnt even clear on the ps3 specs at the time and they kind of mislead the devs about the power of the ps3!

also to add icing on the cake......phil harrison the chairman at the time told evolution studios they are the worst devs ever when they showed him the progress they made on their motorstorm 1 at the time which didnt match the cgi trailer......i mean wtf phil? how can they make the game cgi quality when you and sony lied about the ps3 specs?! :|

All three camps have bad stories like these, none of them are immune to it.

Nintendo is probably the worst one out there but they are also very good at silenting the gossip so it doesn't leave japan.

I can't see why they continued to work with them after that.  I had a boss pull the same crap on me once... after I'd had enough, I busted ass for a month to finish the project and gave notice two weeks later.  He tried to hire me back for a $20k raise, and I turned it down... no amount of money is worth being treated like that.

And for the record everyone who isn't a MS fanboy knows Killzone 2 came out pretty dam good even when comparing to that target render.

Actually, they didn't. I think an Irish CGI studio made it right before E3.

Though Sony have been arrogant in some cases, mostly they have been overpromising in regards to the PS3's specs.

Phill H getting upset at Evolution for not matching the CGI tagret render is not arrogant at all, but it isdown right mean.

unfortunately for you, the devs are owned by sony. so only chance of that happening is if sony allowed it or they let evolution studios go and they bought the ip back off sony....

you can always play it on your mates ps3 or buy one for yourself lol

I have the PS3 but its in my playroom for my daughter and she only uses it for the blu ray. Also I cant stand the controller for the PS3, wish I could use my 360 controller on it....

As good as moterstorm 2 is, evolution studios are sonys weakest dev studio. I mean compared to SOCOM, wipeout, Resistance and killzone 2 motertorm is not really that amazing imo. Its no graphical feat either.

Sony might be mad becuase the devs did not do a good enough job. It happens. The devs making KZ2 are meeting their targets, why cant they?

Moterstorm is good but its on the bottom of my priority list. Sony needs to get some better guys in there for the graphics. Some people who will get the work done. Remember sony cant have any messing around as that costs sales and money.

Well they definitely tried. But the level of detail in the target video (look at the wheels of the troop convoy,character models, volumetric smoke trails etc.) far exceeds the processing power of today. It's even beyond PC standards.

I mean I understand if Sony wants the devs to shoot for the moon but there's this thing called reality.  Sometimes you can't because there's not even rocket fuel with the PS3.

Of couse sony lied...in fact the dev shares some of the blame as Sony has proven time and time again that they lie about their specs. So you play with a bull don't complain when you get the horns.

Yeah, trust only the Japanese.  After all, Kuturagi spoke the truth when he said people would need to work more hours to buy a PS3.  Hell, even now you still need a second job to be able to afford a Sony console.

odd how the killzone 2 render was never really mentioned, just that The motorstorm dev didn't create that target render were instead shown it, then told the power of the ps3 then told you MUST make the game look like this, and on the instant that dev could all ready tell sony was lieing that their system wasn't capable of any such thing, and that when they couldn't come up to snuff they were told they were the worst dev at sony lol which is funny cause nothing at all! ever, since the launch of ps3 has matched the motorstorm trailer.
